Web hosting and email - recommendations please?

If starting from scratch with web hosting and email addresses what is the best / most reasonably priced company to use?

Vidahost - have about 16 hosting packages with them (going to migrate these to a reseller account shortly) and well too many domains to remember. Superb support, responses in 10 mins, 24/7 phone UK support, very good pricing ... can't fault them in any way shape or form

+1 for tsohost, as vidahost excellent response time, 24/7 uk phone support, good pricing. On these forums you will get a pretty even split between tsohost and vidahost for recommended web hosting...

Thanks for that feedback people; I'll have a look at tsohost & Vidahost. It is incredibly tedious to make direct comparisons of these offerings so I do appreciate your input

I was originally considering 1and1 and FastHosts, both of whom seem more expensive than your suggestions.

O/T but just curious. Why do you have so many website names (if that is what domains are)

do you just buy names that you think maybe worth something in the future and hope to sell them on for a profit?

Very relevant thread for me right now, now that my hosting provider (MidPhase) has turned to utter garbage recently. Their Service Status page is probably the busiest page they host, and that's just with "We are aware that there are issues affecting this server. We are working to get them resolved." updates. It's a joke.
