I love statcounter. I have about 20 sites using it and its spot on! cant fault it!

At work we dropped a £20,000/year analytics product for Google Analytics and haven't looked back.
Serverside tracking is ok, as long as you account for the client browser's cache when looking at your weblogs. We find maybe 10-15% of our customers have javascript disabled, so you'll need to keep that in mind when reviewing you stats as well.
