Wednesday Addams - Netflix Series

Looking forward to it as i've always enjoyed the Addams family*, I had a few reservations when the cast was initially announced but the trailer and the "in character" promo shots have largely done away with that.

*The old TV series holds up really well for example (as does the Munsters).

The unofficial Adult Wednesday fan shorts someone did were pretty funny - got shutdown but episodes are around - seems to have inspired the series.

They're still on her channel, but yea, they stopped her making more!

Quite like the look of this.

I'm looking forward to this but I don't get the casting of Luis Guzman as Gomez. Even in the trailer he doesn't comes across anywhere near the character descriptions online, the same descriptions that were personified by both John Astin and Raul Julia.
Guzman's Gomez seems to be just short, fat and creepy but Gomez is meant to be sauve, eccentric. passionate with a hint of the macabre. Really hope that it doesn't detract from the show.

That's pretty much how he was shown in the original comics, the rest is something that you probably won't see in a few pictures/short clips as if they've done it right it'll be in how it's written and acted out.

Been watching it and honestly it's not that bad, Jenna Ortega is better than I was expecting as Wednesday. Had some nice touches which pay homage to the older series for those that remember them.

Weak part... Gomez, Morticia and Pugsley, they just don't feel right, plus the acting from Catherine Zeta Jones is really bad imo. Admittedly I grew up with the original tv series and enjoyed the films, both while distinctly different had much better representations of Gomez and Morticia imo.

Christina Ricci seems to be turning into Dawn French...

I will say it's 'refreshing' for a Netflix show to not be excessively 'inclusive' or have an overtly obvious 'agenda' like their shows often end up being for this age demographic, that trend had been really putting me off netflix shows.... might be linked to their recent 'rejection of woke' in October but who knows...
