week 28b e6600

That has a good chance of being a decent clocker. Some people seem to think the "B" batch chips are the better ones, although I've had a Week 29B which wasn't that amazing before. The week 24 chips are generally the ones to avoid though.

Don't believe people who say their chip is stable at any given speed unless they provide orthos/dual prime proof. You'll see why from my experiences below. A super PI test proves nothing, booting windows is nearly as intensive.

Using 1.5 v (actual) and Zalman 9500 cooler

Week 24A E6600 - boots into windows at 3.6 GHz - Orthos stable at 3.33 Ghz
Week 29A E6700 - boots into windows at 3.9 GHz - Orthos stable at 3.5 GHz
Week 29B E6600 - boots into windows at 3.8 GHz - Orthos stable at 3.5 GHz

and the winner and still my current chip is. *drum roll* :p

Week29A E6600 - boots into windows at 4.1 GHz - Orthos stable at 3.8 GHz & runs 3.6GHz orthos stable on stock voltage :D

Special thanks to The Asgard for that last one.

I have my e6600 here its a 29B i hope its a good one :)

Many of the Week 29B's over on XS are the cream of the crop, although its still pot luck really. You have a better chance than most of getting a cherry chip with that week code though :)

well i got the chip about 40 mins go, booted it straight up at 3.6ghz (450x8) at 1.4v. Priming at the mo. So far im happy :)

Nice :D
Week 28 A/B's seem to be damn decent CPU's.

What kinda clocks am i likely to get with a week 28b e6600?
Just bought one from the same batch as you probally, will let you know how I get on once I recieve the chip! ;)

get the chip from an auction site? i did :)
lol no more left. . . . ! :D I've got everything now except a decent motherboard. . . :)

Hows your CPU coming along? do you have the full Batch Number of the CPU? I'll post mine when I recieve it, maybe we can compare clocks. . .

Well I recieved my E6600 today the Batch No: L628B368 I did a few searches & noticed someone doing 3.6ghz @ 1.35v on water.

Just need a decent motherboard now. . . also tempted to dabble with some Crucial Tenth Anniversary Ram

CPU: E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Ram: G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit
Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120

cant remember 100% but im pretty sure mine is same batch number :) mine failed 3.6ghz at 1.4v. ran prime for 3 n half hours, all was fine, went work for 8 hours, came home to find pc had restarted. Using 1.425 now n is stable, can probly lower volts but aint tried yet. Im using a DS4 which arent meant to be too great with the 4mb chips so i reckon i could get better results with a different board but im waiting to see what dfi offer with the 680i chipset :)

My 6600 just arrived today.

Its a 38A. (looking through plastic packaging) No idea if thats any good though.

Won't find out till Chrimbo either, when I put the rig together in the holidays.

Thats interesting, I've never seen a chip with such a new week code. Let us know how you get on with that one as they do tend to get better as the week code rolls on. :)
