Weekend Football 15th-16th Jan

I've heard the FA actually looks for the whiniest poster on the internet each week, then tell the referee of that game to award as many decisions against said poster's team as possible.

It's how they get their kicks.

I guess if they go looking for opinions and views on a forum it is most likely what they will find, mind you didn't realise an opinion was 'whining'.

So DM's to blame for Arsenal lack of trophies in recent years?

That wasn't actually aimed at you, it was more One More Solo's "OMG THEY'RE OUT TO GET UNITED" post.

Thinking the refs are biased against you has to be the dullest, by-numbers, oft-repeated "opinion" in the book.

Well, that and "a player for the team you support did something bad, therefore your opinion is worthless."

No, that's Wenger, duh. Pay attention.

Well, excuse me if I take your 'opinions' with a sizable grain of salt...

No, you're right, it was whiney. However, the fact that the FA decided to actually enforce the "Respect" campaign for the first time this season at that particular moment is infuriating. There are hundreds of other moments this season where players should have been retrospectively charged.

On the pitch I have to agree with it, Gerrard told a couple of refs to go shove their decisions up a certain somewhere. Think it's because of the commentators blowing it out of proportion than the FA decided to act, doubt there's much bias, had babels post on twitter been barely mentioned I doubt much would have been done.
Pity refs getting stick publically doesn't make the FA do much.

No-one denies that referees make mistakes, it's just the idea that they're somehow biased against your club, based on a handful of selective anecdotes, rather than any particular statistical proof. It's not something you're guilty of alone, hence my post, just that yours happened to be the one I noticed today.

It's a simple fact of following a club I guess. You only really watch your matches, you naturally tend to remember the poor decisions against you, and as such, you then assume they're out to get you. Bit like how people always think their team's best player must be the league's.

It's understandable how it happens, but I still despair that it has to crop up so regularly.

Well hot damn. I'll be sure to make a post-it with "OcUK occasional forum poster guyfawkes5 may no longer take my posts in the true spirit of deadly seriousness with which they were intended", to stick to my desk and remind me of this momentous day forever more.

I would say look at the post again but for the creeping feeling we may get trapped in a loop... ;)

91st minute, grats Dawson.

(of course this is a moot point, but hadn't found a GIF of it until now)

The Police incident that was being talked about over the PA system at Anfield was because a group of 5 Everton fans got jumped by ~30 Kopites. Rumoured that 2 had been stabbed but another has come out that one lad is in hospital in a critical condition with a fractured jaw and head injury! ****ing disgrace!

Thanks to bs rumours like this, an Everton supporter did end up in hospital after being bottled. He was mistaken to be a Liverpool fan and was attacked, along with his 2 brothers (who were Liverpool fans), by a group of Everton fans seeking revenge for the 2 Everton fans that were supposed to have been stabbed

Not really, normal people don't generally go and attack a random liverpool fan because a random Everton fan they don't know got beaten up.

IT was nothing more than an excuse(I'm assuming if it happened and if they said it was in revenge). Dumb people that look for trouble always find an excuse. They beat up our fans, we didn't win, I didn't win 12million quid today, its a sunday, I have two feet. Violent people are violent, would have happened anyway.

Someone said you remember titles, but not good football, I think thats wrong. Ok I remember titles but unless the game is bad on an epic level, I won't remember a game. SO you could win the title but not remember a single game that year, while if you play fantastic football and every game is flooded with fantastic moments, I'll remember them, if that same team wins the title or not, I don't care.

I could be a baseball fan and just support every team that wins the title that year, but I couldn't bring myself to watch the games because its completely boring.

Footballs supposed to be entertaining, theres a reason 3-4k people can be bothered to watch a league 1-2 game, while a few million will watch a Utd or Arsenal game, if its boring, why on earth would you watch it.

A title while nice, doesn't mean all that much at the end of the day. Would I trade Arsenal playing 5-4-1, ultra defensive, nicking games and winning a title on 2 shots a game. No, I'd be bored to death and wouldn't give a monkeys about the title.
