Weekend Football; 17-19th January - *SPOILERS*

Get in Nasri.

Maaan, I've been talking to myself in the last post of the previous page...didn't realise there was a third hahaha! :p

I think you have already used it up with a load of decisions going for you very early in the season

Not true, we've had a disproportionate amount of bad luck with pivotal parts of football matches. Hitting the post (see previous post) in general and twice in this match, and 4 perfectly fine goals disallowed whereas only 2 in return.

Edit, make that 3 :D

Get in Bender!! And RvP got all assists. Nicely done that man.

Very pleased we won that game. 3 wins in a row is better form that usual. It also is slight revenge for their victory at Ashburton Grove.

On this form can't wait for Eduardo to come back, he'll add something I hope.

Glad we eventually came through that one. Shame Villa got a dodgy pen and Sunderland couldn't hold out but at least we didn't lose any more ground to them. Still missing some quality in central midfield at the moment though.

Although it was hard on Stoke today Chelsea deserved their win as at least they tried to win it instead of hoping to get half chances and throw ins but it was all too familiar when we went behind after having easily the best of the game, when we get into the habit of scoring first regularly the jitters will stop.
It's been good the last 2 games (ok only v Southend & Stoke) as the whole team has played with great commitment and spirit, just shows you can't afford passengers like Drogba and Deco when things get tough.
Gutted that Joe Cole is out for the season, he's probably the only regular we have who can add a bit of genius when he's in form but if that means Kakuta gets on the bench more it might not be a bad thing long term.:)

Lampard 400*

Adebayor was hopeless yet again today, yes he got a goal, to be honest one that was woefully defended. Its always shocking when a guy on the post moves a half yard away and lets one in, but I'll give him that he jumped well. All game again though he backed away from challenges, went for about 3 headers in the whole game when we constantly knock the ball long to him.

That late Bendtner post hit, at first I thought Clichy was nuts for crossing as whats the point, then I realised Ade wasn't on and it was the first real cross and Bendtner was there. Ade just doesn't run in for those headers at all. Bendtner looked very good again, Eboue was good, Diaby did basically nothing, Denilson is FINALLY learning to actually stay the **** back and was far improved defensively, though Hull's midfield/attack wasn't really attacking near him, was all Mendi which really went around him.

We really need to give Vela some games and drop Ade, RVP was a star again today, runs our offence completely and is involved in most of our good play as was Eboue. Yes he gave the ball away a lot but he was on the ball moving forwards more than anyone else, he won us the freekick for the almost goal, won us the corner for the first and was generally at always looking to push us forwards which we need. Toure again looked pretty good, Djourou generally good but a touch shakey now and then, CLichy, no idea what that backing off was about but limited their chances against a very good right winger, one not so great game isn't anything to worry about. Ban though for 5 yellows, not confident Gibbs can step in, think we might see Eboue or Sagna there instead.

EDIT:- when was the last weekend so many in the top 5 won, couple months? Also, Barca ripping apart deportivo, missed the 3rd but the first 2 goals were good, messi and Henry.

WTf are you talking about, Eboue played good? He had one good moment all game where he got fouled for RvP's free kick, that was it. Ade and RvP are clearly our best 2 strikers, we've seen Bendtner have countless chances earlier in the season and he was woeful in every game. To suggest to drop Ade for Vela who has barely made a subs appearance is about as ridiculous as everything else you say.

ADebayor was good today? he had one header which frankly was incredibly easy to stop being a goal, other than that nothing at all. All our good attacks till Eboue went off started on the right, that wasn't his only good move, and RVP and bendtner(today) looked 100 times better than Adebayor. Ade isn't in RVP's league, not even close.

My bad, I looked at your location and got it wrong - sincere appologies, you just play shockingly on occasion, but good win today :D

On occassion :p we were just poo and got very lucky now and then till Gallas's outburst, queue a demolition by City and we've been unbeaten since then and still not great, but a completely different Arsenal since that day. WE still have our uncreative games but attitude is completely different and we've looked pretty good defensively in a lot of those games. Like bolton had one shot where we used to have trouble defending against that type of team badly.

blooming carp result again for Toon

We WILL be relegated on this form

I hate supporting Newcastle, like a death sentence of football supporting

WHats changed so drastically since you got back to form? INjuries, did Bassong get injured? You were playing some even decent footie back before xmas but of late seem to being beaten a lot.

Turns out Eto'o scored the 3rd goal, so all their strikers on the sheet in one half, 53 goals between them this year, not bad :p They really are awesome going forwards this year.

The injuries haven't helped, neither has the loss of moral - the guys just don't seem to be focused any more. You know it's bad when die-hard players like Given go on record saying they are fed up with the mentality within in the camp.

I think it's a combination of things, we aren't taking advantage of goal scoring opportunities when they present themselves and we've lost it at the back - as you said before Christmas we were doing well and we were keeping clean sheets. I also think we've been unlucky in certain matches with decisions going against us but I don't want to sound like a whining bitch blaming our poor form on ref's decisions.

I've been saying the same things for the last few years but essentially we have a lot of chaff players that need to be cut but we can't replace them and the squad is so shallow that we can't really afford to lose them.
