Our midfield sucked until Rafa did us a favour by taking Torres off. Once we didn't have him to worry about you could see the difference in Arteta's play.
Milner has never been hyped? he has always been average.
He had a very brief spell at leeds when he first came on the scene where he was "good" considering his age and experience.
He just never progressed, and in some respects, he has regressed.
Damn forgot about this, boss turned up, I tried to alt tab and the laptop died.
And now ive completely lost my train of thought

He went for, 12mil, or maybe 15mil? similar price that Downing would go for, to me they are players that if foreign and most likely not in their national setup at all, would be 4-8million pound players max. To me that says overhyped.
He's average at best as you say, and as you say, he's arguably worse now than when he burst on the scene and played as if he had something to prove. But the english hype I refer to is less of like Rooney/Theo mania type hype, but still their prices have been esculated to ridiculous heights purely because English people tend to over estimate how good english players are.
