Weekend Football 21/22 & 23rd ***SPOILERS***

I don't think it's extremely likely, he can see the potential for next season and he's only 21, he's in no rush, however, if RvP and Ade etc. leave he may get fed up ..

i can see the potential for more failure if Arsene doesn't change his youth policy which clearly isn't working, you need men to win the league not boys.

some ppl can't see it but we ARE going backwards.......Song starting midfield ......give me a break ...he should be doing the oranges at half time or shining RvP's boots.

Arsenal have been going backwards since they ground out a 1 - 0 against West Brom on the first day of the season. But, to be fair, Song wouldn't be playing if it weren't for the incredibly unlucky injury to Cesc.

or if we'd have paid Flamini what he was worth, or convinced Diarra not to leave, or if Diaby wasn't made of glass.

my point is Song wouldn't be in an Arsenal squad in the past let alone a starter because of one or 2 injuries, seriously if you had seen him play on Saturday it was just embarassing to him and the club.

when i think back to just a few years turning upto Highbury to watch Henry/Bergkamp/Pires/Vieira <--- proper world class.....wtf has happened in that short time. :o

What a weird game. Tottenham were absolutely nowhere in the first half, had all of about two chances, and yet managed to score, while City had the ball round the box for ages, and still had to rely on a scrappy poke to get it in. Second half, Spurs came out like a team possessed, and Andy Dawson helped Aaron Lennon remember how to play football by constantly giving him space. After about ten minutes of getting passed to shreds City looked like half the team they were before the break, and just didn't seem up for anything other than quietly panicking. Way too many horribly misplaced passes and poor clearances for my liking.

Plus I had to sit right next to away fans in the North Stand and listen to them finally perk up when they got the second goal. Filthy spuds. :(

Tell you what though, that Cudicini wasn't much cop. He only properly grabbed, what, one corner the entire game? Still better than the flapper that is Gomez, but not as good a keeper as I remember him being.

It's just one **** up after another isn't it? Said it before will say it again, he should have sold Adebayor and used the money to bolster Flamini's wages.

That forward lineup, with Freddie was just immense, perfect balence or power, tackling, pace, skill and finish. We'd win around half our games just by lining up against the opposition in the tunnel. I bet they look at our collection of glass midgets and laugh now. :/

First one isn't a foul, its Rafael practising ballet.

The second and third however could quite easily be given as fouls.

I hope your case wasn't to prove me somewhat right :p.

Anyhow, i'm starting to get bored of this argument. All we seem to have done so far is agree to disagree.

No , what i am saying is that it is a contact sport. If rafael had pushed/pulled Pedersen with enough force to floor him then yes i agree it would have been a penalty. The fact was Rafael simply dusted pedersons shoulders with his hands and Pederson went down like a sack of spuds. So no penalty.

Do you want a foul for every bit of contact that happens between players?

Think I must be the Arsenal jinx, two games I've been to this season and both ended 0-0 :/ I remember a few seasons back there was some stat like Arsenal had gone 60 games without having a 0-0 in the league.

Arshavin looked lively and a bit of a spark, but it was another one of those frustrating days where possession doesn't come to anything. Seemed like there was never anyone on the back post, maybe that's why Wenger stuck Bendtner on the left last night. Kenwyne Jones was stood on his own up front all game, must have touched the ball about 3 times. I'm genuinely worried about whether we can catch Villa, I know some people have kind of just assumed that Arsenal will resume their 'rightful place' in the top 4, but they just aren't closing the gap and they have some tough games at the end of the season too. At the end of the day, look at some of the players who have been playing regularly of late:

Bendtner
Denilson
Eboue in midfield
Song

Are these really the calibre of player you would expect to see turning out so often for a so-called 'contender'? I don't think so. Yes, if Arsenal had a fully fit squad then they wouldn't be playing, but they literally haven't had that for years, so it's a moot point.

I think what frustrates me is that some fans are happy to see genuinely quality players leave on the cheap because they are 'past their best', 'heart isn't in it' or 'had a bad season'. Players like Vieira and Henry are genuine quality, it will take some of these 'kids' (they are all in their twenties for crying out loud, not fresh out the youth team!) years to get to within 80% of the level the oldies are still capable of now, if they even manage that at all.

But you showed examples of things that are given as fouls. We may feel that the game needs to be more physical but its not up to us, its up to the FA and at present two of those examples can easily be given as fouls.

As has been said before, several of your players seem to go down at every piece of contact. Players all over the PL do it. If this we're the other way round, you would be complaining it was a penalty too.

They werent given as fouls though...that was my whole point. I agree with you though, it needs to be cleared up. I don't think even the referees are sure what constitutes a foul or not sometimes.

For the record I would have thought it was highly lucky if it was the other way round and man united were awarded a penalty.
