Don't see it happening, this was liverpools chance to push on. United would have fallen away.

2 games in hand, plus this team dont crumble like they used to in the past so i still beleive they will e above united.

Well I have to I am a pool fan...lol

I think Cisses should make his own way back from Manchester, don't go into the Team Bus. Looking at things now they should have paid out for Owen. Now they aint doing too badly without him but with him.....who knows

Although United were lucky to score we had the best of the last 20 minutes and made it count which Liverpool hadn't done for the first hour or so.

Loving Gary Neville too :D :D.

all possible. If you lose to Chelsea though (couple of weeks away isn't it?) then things could get a bit sour.

Nah we will beat Chelsea...we have to there is a point to prove remember 4-1..it's payback time.

hmmm that sucks......

I'l have to put up with all my ManU supporting mates taunting me for the next week now..... just what I need. Atleast we have 2 games in hand.
Also the chelsea result worked out nicely for us.

Yes but with the 2 games in hand plus the chelsea result and then a win over chelsea...that could have made the end of season very exciting

Keep dreaming lol :D. You will at best draw against Chelsea i reckon :)

Im sure thats what Man City were told before they faced Man Utd :p

I just we could have been dumped out of the UEFA Champs League aswell... :p

Just shows what a difference having quality forwards makes.
Liverpool dont have ANY quality forwards, and so squander perfectly good chances that could have put the game out of reach for United.

Benitez was so obsessed with not losing today, he should have just told them to get forward and swamp united, instead he was too cautious, and that patheitc display in the interview, "i prefere not to talk about it" when asked about Rooney's tackle and the challenge on Evra that resulted in the winning goal...........
Riley had a half decent match today, was plenty of decisions he could have made but didnt, Benitez should be gratefull about that.

So he plays Evra in two of our biggest games since signing, yet not against Burton to get some experience first....riiiiiight.

Well main reason for that is that Evra didnt sign in time for first game so was couldnt be picked in the replay. So unless we wanted to breach SAF decided it was probably best not to play him.

Great result for us considering the shocking midfield we had to play.

the game could have went either way really, Gerrard IMO should have been booked sooner, his famous two footed tackles without touching the ball happened a few times today. The game was there for the winning for either team, we pushed forward more in the last 15 minutes while Liverpool looked like they were settling for a draw. With better strikers up front Liverpool would have won that game. They had a solid defence and over powering midfield but no spark up front to ignite.

Giggs had a good game, thought the man of the match award could have went to Ferdinand as well, not for the goal but for his defending and clearance of the line. Wes Brown had a solid performance. I wouldn't say Gary Neville ran the length of the pitch to taunt the Liverpool fans, he was in that half anyway, but I expect that from Gary Neville, he really really hates Liverpool.

Agreed  As Rotty said above, you were there for the taking today, but we didn't have the firepower where it matters. That performance will/should cost Cisse his job.
The timewasting Kromkamp sub lost us the match too.
Worst Man U team i've seen us play for some years tho,but they got the points and thats all that counts

Awesome cross from Giggs and really powerful header from Rio - great goal.

However, in all honestly I have to say Liverpool deserved to win the match. Virtually all the second half i was sitting waiting for them to score, they suppressed us really well in midfield and looked tight at the back. We had very few scoring opportunities.

The last 10-15mins though we were on fire - if we'd played like that the whole match it would have been a far more interesting match. Giggs was back to his old self, running at people and taking defenders on (I thought he had been pedestrian for most of the match) and Rooney/Ruud looked a decent threat.

As for Evra... I really can't make my mind up. Sometimes he looked very confident and able to deal with situations, other times he looked lost in the air and his final balls were all over the shop. Regardless, any back four that doesn't include Silvestre is an improvement at the minute. Brown looked solid and Rio was on top form again.

Our midfield is a complete shambles. A midfield of O'Shea, Richardson, Fletcher and Giggs really isn't going to have anyone worried - particularly with Giggs centrally. If we'd lost the match serious questions would have been asked of Fergie's decision not to strengthen us even short term across the middle of the pitch.

In all, I'm so happy we won, but I'm not sure if we deserved it and we really have to improve.

i think andy gray got it right put ruud and rooney (spit) in the liverpool side and they would be walking the prem right now.

I thought Rafa showed some class in not mouthing off in the interview, but thats not something the mancs know much about, Neville showed that quite clearly at the end.

But that said fair play, thats football, giggs i thought was fantastic as were brown and rio, infact for me brown was far better than rio, but then my nan could have defended against Ciise today, he was awefull, truly awefull, why he took crouch off i dont know,
i wasnt overly impressed with sissoko either, too many misplaced passes and he is far too much of a hothead.

We switched off, united didnt, but talk about a kick in the nads eh

Agreed, but I'm still asking why Ferguson hasn't bought a midfielder and I'm sure 99% of us Utd fans are as well. Scholes has been out for a month with blurred vision, I'm not too sure how much I believe this story though, goodness knows when he'll be back. O'Shea was taken off today because he was dire, I seriously doubt that he picked up any injury or knock. Fletcher was his usual headless chicken-self. I don't know where Park is, he wasn't even on the bench today. He is not being given a chance to play. Ferguson's adopted son continues to beat him into the first team.

Our only weakness is our midfield. We have more than enough defenders now and some promising young defenders coming through as well. Up front we have two of the best forwards in Europe and sufficient backup for them in Rossi, Solskjaer and Saha. I think Smith is being misused in midfield, he is doing a good job for us but it will ruin him as a forward in the long term. Ronaldo... and mark my words he will be gone this summer! He's potentially a world class player but he hasn't progressed as a player since he arrived at Old Trafford. Only one man can fix this and his name isn't Sir Jimmy Saville ;)
