** Weekend Football Thread ** *spoilers*

I don't think it's down to the fans at all. There was always going to be rumours about him being appointed when it looked like Newcastle would finish the season managerless. Ashley made the decision because he thought it would lift the players and the club out of the relegation zone based on his status as former star and captain of the club. It hasn't worked. There is still time but it looks like an impossible task.

Ashley tried to sell the club because he fell out with the fans, I don't think Keegan / Shearer were appointments to try and do the team good. I think they were just to get the fans on side.

*btw Shearer could be a great manager, I just don't agree with managers walking in to jobs at a high level, go manager lower league teams, get some expirence.

Good post. Especially the last sentence, I've even heard some Newcastle fans starting write him off already.

Don't you think that it was a poor appointment ?
An unproven manager coming into a club who are going to need to win every game left to stay up. I don't care about who you are, I'd rather have a manager with a nice CV.

I don't think Shearer was the correct man for the job, Ashley should have appointed someone who has expirence, and can just do a job while Joe Kin is out. Shearer, if he wants to be considered a good manager should start at a lower league club. Much like Keane, Ince, et al.

I have no idea what the future holds for Newcastle, but they need a seriously big clear out come the end of the season.

Funny, I knew if I dared to criticise anything that happened in the match you'd be ready to pounce on it in a shot.

I happen to think forcing one of your best attcking players back into a defensive role is a waste for a team that desperately needs wins. Sue me.

Agree 100%

Duff is one of the better attacking threats Newcastle have, making him play at the back is a waste of his talents.

Spurs fans are harping on about this massive injustice, let them complain about it.

From where Webb was, he even said it looked a stone wall penalty.

Spurs fans are just trying not to think about how their team lost a two goal lead and collapsed in a truley embarassing style.
