Weekend Football Thread *spoilers*

I love the way we play but would like a bit more ruthlessness at times and no-messing grind out results style play.

Our problem is that we pass and pass and pass and pass...then lose it.

When rosicky was breath of fresh air when he arrived as he used to shoot when others didnt. Same with Arshavin. The only people I dont want shooting is Eboue who cant hit a barn door with ball not alone a net, yet he still thinks he can.

I guess we will have to wait for 2nd half so Wenger can give us a team talk and we start playing football.

He's right. We did the same yesterday and look what happened. We rely on being able to play the ball into space so when the opposition goes defensive, we're left frustrated and unable to create clear chances.

I agree, but against defensive sides you can / should be able to score. I don't think you should sacrifce playing good football for bad football.

I didn't see the full game, just extended highlights, but Spurs should really beat Wolves where ever you play them. You have better players in every postition imo, and play much better attacking football.

Sometimes, your chances go in, sometimes they don't.

I'd rather see my team win something tbh, they aint actually won owt and havent looked like doing so.

He is the most successful manager in the history of Arsenal in terms of trophies and is also the club's longest-serving manager. Wenger is the only non-British manager to win the Double in England, having done so in 1998 and 2002. In 2004, he became the only manager in FA Premier League history to go through the entire season without defeat.

The club's success in the late 1990s and 2000s owed a great deal to the appointment of Arsène Wenger as manager in 1996. Wenger brought new tactics, a new training regime and several foreign players who complemented the existing English talent. Arsenal won a second League and Cup double in 1997–98 and a third in 2001–02. In addition, the club reached the final of the 1999–2000 UEFA Cup (losing on penalties to Galatasaray), were victorious in the 2003 and 2005 FA Cups, and won the Premier League in 2003–04 without losing a single match, an achievement which earned the side the nickname "The Invincibles"; in all, the club went 49 league matches unbeaten, a national record.
Arsenal finished in either first or second place in the league in eight of Wenger's first eleven seasons at the club, though on no occasion were they able to retain the title. As of 2009, they were one of only four teams, the others being Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea, to have won the Premier League since its formation in 1992.

Yes, they've never won 'owt'.

Liverpool are pressing well in midfield, Arsenal look lazy and slack, not sure why.

Aurelio should have been off though, not sure why he only gave him a yellow!?

Best half of football Liverpool have played for a while. Mascherano has played at his usual tempo and not let Arsenal settle but the player of the half for me was Lucas. Best he's played all season. Shame Gerrard dived last week because Webb might have given the penalty today if that wasn't fresh in his mind.

Don't think 1-0 will be enough so hope we score a few more.

Arsenal need to play a whole different game in the second half now :p

I dont get why anyone likes Walcott though, what an over-rated terrible player :(

Don't know why there was a fuss over Aquilani starting today. Of course Rafa is gonna pick Mash/Lucas and so far they've showed exactly why. Hurrying Song into playing the ball and closing down all over the pitch.

Can't see Aquilani coming on except for Gerrard if Liverpool are 2/3 goals up near the end of the 2nd half.

LOL well at the moment we cant pass for ****...but i do agree with you...as ive said before we lack a cut throat finisher...cant rely on Edu as hes not the player he was before his injury...fact that we havent got RVP is showing...hes in a different class altogether...if he isnt scoring then hes making things happen.

Our team at the moment is in a state of disarray and i personally think its time Wenger splashed some cash on a world class striker or defensive player...we just look so crap on the pitch.

We fully deserve to be 1-0 up should have had a penalty, and have been better than arsenal at everything so far this half :D

I hope it continues we just have to keep this up and not go entirely defensive. Can see few more yellow cards thou =/
