Weekend Footy 29th-1st November/December *Spoilers*

Unsporting against whom, his own team?
I don't know in this instance, but a deliberate handball could be called unsporting behaviour which may be why people pretty much always get booked for it.

It's a bizzarre incident that was totally avoidable and Ronaldo should be carpeted by Fergie for his petulance and stupidity. Beckham would have been.

Use your common sense - how can handball which disadvantages your OWN TEAM be unsporting and worthy of a yellow card?

You want consistancy. So if most players are booked for deliberate hand ball Ronaldo must be too.

But i don't see the point here as whether he should/shouldn't be booked. The point is why did he do something so stupid in the first place? All he had to do was head the ball. He knew he was on a yellow, he knew he was lucky to still be on the pitch after his little display of attitude with his first booking so why give the ref an excuse to send you off?

The way I see it, he attacked the ball with his hands on purpose, it's a yellow card. The other offence was also a yellow when coupled with the attitude he gave the ref, the foul alone though he could probably have got away with.

You want consistancy (sic).
Quote me saying that? Although yes, I do - consistently correct decisions.

That is entirely the point.

What he did was strange and hard to explain. But it warranted a free kick to City, nothing more.

Because.......?

I thought only goalkeepers were allowed to use their hands in open play. He isn't a goalkeeper so why did he use his hands? It's football, right?

EDIT - If you don't get cautioned for a deliberate handball, what's to stop people doing it all over the field if they think there will be no consequence if they get caught. You just can't use your hands so obviously, even if he thought he heard a whistle why didn't he head the ball anyway?

He isn't allowed to, so it would be a free kick to the opposition. (or if Ronaldo had done it in his own penalty area, it could have been a penalty to City). It isn't an automatic booking. Ronaldo and/or Man Utd gained no advantage from it. Ronaldo was not trying to score by using his hands.

I know it's not an automatic booking, but it's up to the referee, a lot of their job is down to judgement and he chose to use a caution. I don't see why you're so hung up on this. If you want an outrageous decision you should re-watch Terry's tackle on Sagna that only got a yellow, that was confusing (well not really considering it's Terry)

Dirtydog, you're obviously a Man U fan and i don't think you're going to get it. Suffice to say reverse the situation you'd be baying for a yellow card.

Referees have to be consistant. As has been said by me and others 99% of deliberate handballs result in a yellow card (Though i would question whether this is for unsporting behaviour rather than the handball) so this must also be punished in the same way as any other. Yellow card. 2x Yellow = red. Sorry, it's that simple whther you like it or not.

I guess you meant "havent" won the league - :), but even so a few months here or there consistently gives you a little experience, even though it is usually around this time of year you start to really falter (well over the last few years anyway)

Yes i did mean haven't. As for us faltering around this time of year, that's not really true. We're usually playing catch up already and traditionally under Benitez we've done very well over the Christmas/New Year period (last season being the only exception). Like i said earlier, the mentality of this squad is excellent (as seen with the amount of comebacks this season already) and whether we win the league or not, we won't fall to bits like we did in the season under Houllier that i meantioned earlier.

Im pretty sure that this has been our best start to an EPL season in terms of points. It's not only that though that makes our start to the season impressive; we had a fairly hard start to the season playing yourselves and Utd, as well as Spurs, Villa, Everton and City all away from home and we've come through that without have to play especially well. Not to mention being without key players throughout the season.

Liverpool 11:
------------Reina
Arbeloa--Carra-Hyypia--Dossena
Benayoun-Gerrard-Alonso-Riera
----------Kuyt-Keane

Only real suprise is big Sami playing ahead of Agger.

No, I endeavour to be consistent.

Not in my experience of watching football, or of reading FIFA rules.
