Weekend Footy 29th-1st November/December *Spoilers*

:D

Some of the comments on here make me laugh. It's our best start to a Premiership season, we've already beaten 2 of our title rivals and we still haven't hit top form.

Considering how well we usually play in the second half of the season I'm very happy with where we are at the moment, and by that I mean not 10 points off the top already.

Exactly. Obviously it's disappointing not to fully capitalise on Chelsea's slip but we're in a great position in the league and like you say we generally improve throughout the season.

He didn't try anything. If it's the incident im thinking of then he picked the ball up out wide tried to knock it past the West Ham defender and run past him and ended up running into the West Ham player. It was out of the box and he didn't go to groud or appeal for a foul either.

edit: In other words he dived ;)

A few weeks back he "ended up running into" a European opponent and got a penalty. Who would blame the poor BBC reporter for immediately trying to guess Gerrard's intentions. ;)

Edit - this is something that truely annoys me about the whole going to ground thing. It's perfectly feasibly that an opponent can be fouled yet stay on his feet. It's a stupid rule and has totally produced a whole load of divers.

People can complain because, as has been said many times, deliberate handball doesn't warrant an automatic booking. If he'd deliberately used his hands to try to cheat it would be understandable. But he didn't -- he stopped the ball during the middle of a move that could have led to a goal for his team. A free-kick against him was the right course of action and would have been enough. I agree that he should have got a yellow for clapping the ref (and so subsequently should have been off), but that should have no bearing on the handball incident. The ref got it wrong.

To be fair though he wasnt the only utd player who could have got sent off yesterday. I counted around 3 others (both full backs n fletcher, the ref played advantage but didnt go back to book them, i suspect if they hadnt all been on one card already they would have got one) for utd and 2 for chelsea who could have easily have been sent off.

would have loved to seen SAF face if he had been down to 7 men (prob would have still won) lol

Also hate the way MOTD didnt show any of the chelsea fouls or go back to joe cole's offside goal against arsenal at highbury when it ended 0-2 (he scored the first)

What comes around goes around.

Still shouldn't detract that chelsea didnt have more than 1 (maybe 2) on target against a team that concedes FOUR against the spuds :(

Still waiting for Keane to prove himself. He's been nothing but a let down so far.

If his best position is second striker then I can't see why we've bought him, Gerrard will always that role before him.

No, the other one - where he got the penalty, at the end of the game, at the end of a vital game ;)

Gerrard doesn't dive, don't be silly. he is also in no way a hypocrite for having a go at other players diving. find a youtube video of a supposed 'dive' and Baz will be able to talk you throughhow from a certain angle there was contact and that by the letter of the law it was in fact a foul on him. no matter improbable it may seem you will discover that he actually tried to stay on his feet and was morally and according to the laws of the game, in the right.

Oh put your handbag away dan, you used to be funny now you're just talking nonsense and being a bit pathetic ;)

I'll think you'll find i've said many times that he's dived and is a hypocrite. He didn't dive in the incident lizard is talking about though.

oh be quiet :p i've been quite restrained recently, it's banter and your name gets picked out of the hat because generally you can take it and you do have a tendency to see things through very liverbird tinted glasses. it's part of your charm but it is there.

oh and obviously i see things through rose coloured glasses when united are concerned as well.
