Weekly Challenge : Decay

Well it isn't a competition or anything so u can post em for discussion if you want, but i think the main point of this thing is to get people to have a focus to what they shoot, but yeah by all means put some up for discussion, :)

edit: i think i thought decay was a good idea for thee first week too because its not too difficult to find something that everybody can shoot, but at the same time you can be as imaginative as you want, so its a chance to think outside the box with decay theres so much that it could be

Urban Decay?

Looks like I need a new polariser for my ultra wide :(

tis is really nice , glad to see you going for a little different take on decay :)

come people, lets talk about stuff that could be decay, loads of stuff it doesn't just stop at food and plants/natural stuff getting old.
theres so much things like lets see

decay of a bubble - this one i personally love to do but don't have the equipment for any suggestions of how to get that. you know when a bubble falls through the air watch it really carefully and it sort of breaks from the top and theres a fraction of a second when you get just half a bubble.

bubble rap?- aim to really get the transparent effects

um theres loads of stuff, teeth, fancy doin teeth? lol

post some ideas up people and how you could achieve them.
remember decay doesn't have to be natural think about man-made decay too...

nice photos so far tho keep it up :-) =D

some nice work being shown here, and good to see peoples different takes on the theme.

on the way home from work today i took some shots on the beach. this being the most suited:

i will be taking more this week though, will reshoot that at different time of day to get different light on it.

sleepy - i love that. urband decay is a theme i'm very interested in. am looking at doing some urbexing to get some decent shots of my own.

Urban Decay? Taken yesterday, I should have really ventured in to see what life in there is REALLY like
Bugger me, I really hate to say WOW at a photograph and have only said it at a select few on here but that's stunning, the colours and faux-vignetting is superb and really has a dystopian feel to society. Reminds me of Children of Men. Top photograph.

I think this is a great idea!

Sleepyd - really love your work, it's really imposing. I looked at it earlier on my laptop and due to the screen it looked quite grey, which I think added to it. Now I look at it again, it slightly lost the 'coldness' that I first saw - still love it though!

Now for my attempt:
Modified:

Cropped + rotated, added warm filter, also boosted saturation + contrast and lowered the brightness a touch.

Thanks for all the comments.
I keep changing my mind about the processing, on one hand I want it to be grey and gritty but I don't want to lose the depth of colour in the shot

Kit: 20D, Canon 10-22 @10mm w/polariser.
Exposure: 1/100th sec, ISO100, F8

I need a new polariser with the ultra wide lens because it gives me light fall off at the edges when I dont want it to :(

Works fine in that particular image... :)

Left over from the Cold War!. Very Spooky wandering around Greenham, even though there's a lot of nature walks, the Silos are still there... With 3x Razor wire topped 10 foot high fences with 15 feet between them!.

Don't have an DSLR just an SLR (EOS v33) - Old Skool

here is one from me. had a little play with desaturation and faded desaturation.

not sure if it works, but the missus likes it so...

ok, here is the untouched version (apart from being resized)

the purple border was the missuses idea, something about contrasting the green, shrug I just do as I am told, especially when it is close to bed time ;)
