Weird PC problem

Hey guys, after some help.. Randomly, seems to be happening more often nowadays my mouse cursor will lock up, and im also unable to use my keyboard, everything is running in the background still, have sound etc but cant do anything with mouse or keyboard and have to hard restart.

It happens in games, and even browsing the web! Just random and really annoying.

PC specs:
i5 2500k oc 4.5ghz
8gb ram
850w xfx power supply
amd 290 tri-x card
crucial ssd with windows on that and then a 1.5tb hdd for storage + games.

What happens if you disconnect them and reconnect?

My RAT5 does this occasionally, it'll completely lock up, but disconnecting and reconnecting fixes it

crucial m4 ssd?

if so use ssdlife and look to see what fw version and the hours usage,if around 5400 hours use your suffering from the freeze bug which is cured by flashing the latest fw to the ssd

Have tried reconnecting them yea, no luck. Will get ssdlife now as it is a crucial m4

Downloaded the upgrade file for the SSD, but looks like ive already got the latest firmware as it says no SSD to update, and i have the old folder still in my downloads, version number matches?

how many hours use had the ssd had?

any bsod screens when it locks up

Ok ran memetest, it froze at 18 minutes on test 10? Didnt go anywhere for 15 minutes so i quit to come check.. is that normal? im guesssing not. There were no errors though.

Have you looked at Event Viewer? When something like that happens it will log it there.

Gives you a better idea of what it is.

There is a guide here that explains how to use it if it's your first time.

It's pretty simple to do and I think it's best to start there rather than running all these long winded tests.

Another thing which may sound stupid... have you tried other USB ports?

Some people have problems using USB 3.0

Yea tried other USB ports. Things is the pc is 3 years old now, so im guessing its hardware somewhere just no idea what! Il try the event viewer when i get home from work tonight. Its just so random, like it wont happen for a week then suddenly it happens 3-4 times in a day.

Another thing you could do is go into device manager and uninstall drivers for mouse and keyboard and let them re install or try updating them from the companies website.

try two clicks more on the vccio voltage

tried every suggestion but no luck, i had no issue for 3 days, but now its started again. I had my CSGO crash the other day, to desktop then i had bugged sound looping constantly.
Tonight the PC locked up (still hear sound in background but cant do anything) hard reset, literally few minutes in crash again! It did that like 4 times

I dont think it has anything to do with the mouse, deffo a hardware problem somewhere i just dont know what! Its making me want to upgrade but i really dont want to as i think my pc has enough left in it for now! plus no funds!
