I work in a shared building with 10 odd other companies. There's a rather large room in the basement to keep bikes.

Recently some new guy has started storing his bike here. Fine. Plenty of room.

What's ******* weird however is he has decided to keep his cycling/work shoes exactly where I put my bike, which is also about 10 metres away from his own bike in the opposite corner of the room.

I did wonder if he knew there was a bike kept there but then the other day I came down at 5 to find his work shoes (ie he'd come down, swapped shoes and left for the day) literally under my wheel. Why would you do this? My tyres are dirty.

It's the most bizarre situation because it seems so petty to be like "someone is putting their shoes in MY space" but it's just ******* weird. I step on them/run them over with my bike every day because the lights don't turn on straight away and then I move them to the side. Every day they're back. It's like a real life troll.

Can anyone explain this odd behaviour?

Put bike elsewhere in room, get on with life?

(If the shoes follow your bike, you've got a weird-ass stalker.)

maybe someone on the other side doesn't like his shoes over in their space so kicking them across to your side

or maybe he uses the pipes thing above where he stores his shoes to hold himself/his stuff whilst he takes his shoes off. so he dumps his bike, walks over to the pipe area and chucks his coat over it and bag whilst he takes his shoes off and then leaves them where they are

Let's not all jump to assuming Demons are behind this as there are a couple of quite rational possible explanations:

1) His shoes are very naughty and he likes the way you punish them (check to see whether he has set up a web cam to observe this).

2) He comes from a culture where offering your shoes is the prelude to engaging in some sweaty, man on man action.
