ooooo what could it be :)

Be here in two to three weeks though :(

Remember this? Well it's here :)

I see so many people add plexi and acrylic windows... pah! Go hard or go home! :D

10mm thick low iron glass, dubbed corners and polished edges :D

Now, to try and fit it asap! I still need to cut a window in the actual panel and will do this as soon as possible, then attach the glass with some metal standoffs.

Nice I love the idea of a small case but then again love a midi(full are too big) tower as well. Maybe the best way is having both? :D But then that would defeat the purpose of not having a big one, as two cases would just take up more space :p

Anyway nice work so far, liking the white colour scheme. First time I've seen somebody plastidip a mobo, good idea :p Looks like would be a picky job to get it all of though or is it fairly easy to?

I'm hoping it'll mostly come off in one peel :p

hi tbyeah. ive not been on for a few weeks as ive not been well. i think the mobo cover route is the best option. airflow wise have you thought about mounting the cover slightly raised up enough to allow air to flow underneath it? with the case being so small the components should pretty much hide anything that isnt covered so it would look like the components were just mounted to the back wall of the case.

that glass looks cool too. what is it like reflection wise. i deliberatly try not too keep my acrylic window super polished so the light reflections dont stop you seeing through it.

Ideally I'd like a cover but it might just be to difficult to make :(

The glass seems to be reflective enough to be nice, but not too much so.

Sorry for a lack of updates, tomorrow is the big day. I have been busy, the window is cut although I need to make it slightly bigger and file the edges. I've also removed majority of plasti from the board, and tried to paint the psu but couldn't detach the internals from the housing.

I have the cash for sleeving now so will be on that soon as well.

have you decided how to mount the window? im guessing its quite heavy. if it was light enough clear slicone or window sealant would be ok. when you cut the panel out you could create some tabs, bend them down, fix the glass with sealant and then fold the tabs back up as an extra fixing. 2 tabs on the bottom, 2 at the top and one each side. as long as theyre not huge they wont be an eyesore through the glass.

Nice nice nice. Looks so similar to my SG05 with the Titan in it. Good that you didn't have to cut the case to get your 770 in though - chopping the hole for the Titan meant I lost a clip for the fan dust filter.

The ghetto SSD made me chuckle, but if you look around there's actually a number of places you can squeeze in a 2.5" drive (but wiring it all up would be a pain).

I never got round to doing custom cables for my ST45SF-G but I'm mindful of the capacitor I have on my 24pin.

Little suggestion for you, and this is what I did on mine: flip the PSU so the intake fan is pointing outside the case. It does make things a touch louder when the fan kicks in, but it leaves you a perfect blank space to mount an SSD under the PSU. I got one of those Akasa dual 2.5" mounts and literally stuck it to the PSU - perfect fit - and just used ultra short SATA cables.

Best of luck painting the inside, you can only get away with a couple of very thin coats before it becomes tricky to put the lid back on.

Isn't the psu fan supposed to point down so it sucks out the air drawn in by the intake fan at the front?

Well Silverstone have that orientation as standard and their airflow illustrations do show the PSU drawing air out of the system. But I've always disagreed with that for 2 reasons.

Firstly, it's not like the case is a sealed vacuum, so the positive air pressure will just blow air through the case, over the board and out all of the vents.

Secondly, and more importantly, I'd be concerned about the PSU and the CPU cooler competing for airflow - the PSU fan is drawing air up and through directly above the CPU cooler which is likely to be trying to draw air down.

The beauty of the SG05 (and SG06) is there's quite a lot of space if you think small - I could easily strap a slim 80mm or 120mm fan to the inside of the lid near the back to act as exhaust with my PSU being flipped. I've seen a mod which cut vents for 3 40mm fans underneath the PSU to act as exhaust.

Wonderful case.
