Weißgold - Silverstone Sponsored ITX

Congrats on the sponsorship.

I just couldn't see myself spraying a motherboard like you and Davido have done, I'd be worried it would never work again ! Looks great tho

Which PSU are you using? I have the 450W modular Gold in my SG05 Titan rig and I would SO VERY STRONGLY recommend you make custom-length cables.

The PCI-E power cable has an annoying loop taking the 6+2 pin into the second 6 pin. I have my 2 2.5" drives in an Akasa dual bay jobby stuck underneath my PSU so I literally need 4 inches of SATA power cable with the connectors no more than 3mm apart, otherwise you end up with excess cable and loops everywhere.

Also be careful with how much paint you put on the inside of the case. My SG05 was originally the 300W model, so the insides and lid are bare metal. By the time I'd primed and painted black nothing really fits any more, and I've only used thin layers.

Silverstone were extremely kind and are sending me their new SX600G model; I'll have to have a look at the cables when it arrives. I feel your pain though, having had it with other power supplies.

As for the paint, I think (although not sure) the interior is painted in newer revisions. If not I'll try and stick to a thin coat.

This may seem simple to some but yeah it's confusing me haha

The sprayed motherboard looks great. ( i would never do it personaly due to lack of giant mangrapes &money.

what im curious about though is would the layer of paint have any thermal implications to think about with north/south bridge capacitors ect

Thanks :D

Well the north/south bridge heatsinks and PCBs underneath have been left bare, breaks up the white nicely. So the only caps I've covered aren't ones that'll get too hot at all.

Personally I don't like painted motherboards. For me there's something scruffy about have the chips, caps and solder points coated in the same colour as the PCB. I'd prefer to vinyl dye instead so the plastic is affected but the metal isn't, but given that vinyl dye works by breaking and recreating bonds in the plastic I'm not sure what effect that would have on the circuit tracks. So my second choice is to go all Sabretooth and create a custom motherboard cover.

When I have some disposable income I'm planning a practice mod job on my old socket 478 P4: custom motherboard cover, custom GPU shrouds, LED plexi panels, extensive case reworking, cable sleeving, etc. All good stuff to practice with effectively disposable hardware :D

I think we have a winner :D

Without the "project" though, it fits perfectly, single word and nice and clean.

If a passing mod happens to see this, could you please change the thread title to "Weißgold - Silverstone Sponsored ITX" please? Thanks :D

Looking OK mate, I'd re paint the back plate though that top top edge on the one pic looks aweful. Plus, the MTN paint once in the case will look more cream than white especially against the white of them ram. I'm doing a black and white build and have the same ram, and I tried the MTN white, and it looked bad once in, I ended up trying 3 different whites, Plastdip being one, I like the idea, but what a pain in the arse to use, If you screw anything through it, if there is a countersunk hole there, it puckers the paint, I couldn't find a white that was bright enough, so went with good old vinyl.

Completely agree, the backplate needs another coat or two. Tbh I just couldn't wait to put it on.

I also need to file down the bit near the io plate as the metal is slightly deformed, you can see in the pics.
