There are new(ish) regulations regarding installations and alterations in domestic properties and not all electricians are necessarily au fait with the regs (not a slight on your leccy by the way) and I assume he's going to certificate the work he's done so he'll be accountable for it, your insurance may take a different view.
Those installations may be correct but they just don't look it![]()
You mean part P, you have to be qualified and not all electricians, you still need to take the test if you are already quaslified.
Hmm, it was opened and checked last year with new firebricks being put in and what have you.Might need to check the rules regarding open fires and a non combustible hearth from that pic.

Aye, they where already notched, so we drilled and re-cabled.Looks good mate.
Just a word of warning, you should try and avoid notching the joists to run electric cables and drill through the middle, especially in older houses. Notching can reduce the structural integrity of the wood.
