Well done HSBC

I am going to move from HSBC very soon. The thing that annoyed me is I put a decent sum into my savings account, then I get a letter dated the next working day saying they are reducing the interest rate significantly on that account. My g/f has the exact same account and her rate remains as it was. There are no terms at all saying the rate reduces based on amount deposited, reason given was "market conditions"

Literally going to Santander today to do it all!

Yo dawg, I heard you liked thank you's, so I put a thank you in your thank you so you can thank you while you thank you.

Bravo! ****ing BRAVO!

Thank you for upgrading my bank account for no reason without asking!

Thank you for sending me a new card which has been lost in the mail!

Thank you for cancelling my old card without even telling me!

Thank you VERY much.

Thank you because now as I try to buy Insurance for my car as a legal requirement I have no other means of payment and my old insurance company are going to automatically renew at £850 as opposed to the £450 I am trying to purchase this lovely Thursday morning.

Thank you HSBC.

Um... that's not how automatic renewal works. Well, it is, just, you can ring up and say "I don't want it renewed" you know? In fact, I'm sure you have to do that even if you had bought the new policy, as they'd just charge you the renewal fee anyway...

By going to Santander, do you mean you're switching to them? I feel even more sorry for you if you are. Just as disgraceful a bank as HSBC.

worse so judging by some friends and family experience.

Let alone their operational standards. I've had so many people say how awful a bank Santander is. I feel worse of them than HSBC (clearly from my last post) and I know about HSBC and their money laundering for the flipping Mexican Cartel!

Thank you HSBC.

You'll likely have 30 days to cancel the policy and get a refund (minus the days you were insured for), could be worse!

My experience with Santander is fine, on 2nd mortgage with them, I deal directly with one of their advisors I know in branch. Our recent mortgage application was done in about 45 minutes and survey booked straight away, was impressed.

I already use their 123 CC and they have been fine everytime I called them.

For future use just open another current account with Nationwide or TSB or someone and keep a small stash in there for emergencies?

Then your mortgage adviser is most likely non-compliant then, so yeah, great service there!

There is no way a proper compliant mortgage interview can be carried out in 45 minutes. Even before the MMR changes came into place a year ago this would have been insanley fast for a full end to end mortgage appointment.

They can try, but if your card is cancelled they cannot get your money.

I got letter.... got the hump.... rang them.... cancelled so called upgrade to a new account! Simple! :)

How do you figure that if they already have all your details from the first mortgage, and you've everything to hand walking into the room, and indeed, know which product you want?
Why should it take longer?

With Santander amongst others, find the 1-2-3 useful for the current account and CC. Have a Halifax clarity for abroad. Have other accounts for my mortgages currently, didn't have opportunity to avail of Santander as their rates were not the best at the time.

Direct debits need nothing more than the account details, a debit card being cancelled or out of date isn't usually enough to effect a direct debit. Presuming the account/sort code stay the same its incredibly likely the payment would still go through.
