Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

Isn't Delight a collab with Hipyo Tech? Or am i thinking of another colourway.

Yeah i mean its literally just BoW with a colour accent but its one you would probably inevitably needs to use and just works with everything. Hopefully getting mine within this week at some point.

The only board im looking forward to now is the XOX70, there's nothing else thats really interesting me right now.. well unless they release the Werk-One but i got a feeling that will be a unicorn like the Keycult. Super expensive but super premium meaning super hard to get.

....

Yes. HipyoTech designed the key cap set I think it was his first set he did (since then he has done his own polycap Hippo set with Kinetic Labs). The desk mat for it was really nice as well, super fun and fit the theme really well.

I have one board on my horizon if it ever gets from proto but also waiting on the 1800 format J-Series board.

Also love the GMK Maestro desk mat some of my favourite mats (I had to get all three in the end as they were just so nice)

Yeah the maestro mat is very nice, i have one of them so far. I think they're on offer at the moment on Proto site, was tempted to get the others as well.

Gateron Milky Yellow Pros arrived today along with some Krytox lube for the Stabs. I know the Krychron comes with decent stabs and lube but no harm having some as spare.

Amazing value these Yellows, hopefully the Q1 arrives tomorrow!

Then only the case, coil cable and couple of artisans left.

OMG, this is like nothing i have ever tried. I went straight to modding, Force Break Mod, PE foam at the base and tape mod under the PCB so I can't say I have any frame of reference but this is amazing. I am not sure what to call it, Thock seems to be the term but it is more like hitting stone or something, each key is like a jade?

The only downside is that the keycap set, it does not have the ~ key (left of the Z) in the correct height. Also the Top Left ± key next to 1 is also the wrong symbol. I could remap it I guess but I never use those keys anyway so it doesn't bother me.

I am in LOVE with this thing, I am seriously thinking getting another one and take it into the office. I might get an ANSI one next for maximum key cap compatibility too.

Also, the texture on the PBT caps is great, i think this is my first PBT set.

Call me a convert!

I have been thinking what to get for the office, don’t want to take a £350 custom board and leave it at work so just ordered a NUPHY Halo 65.

Looks great for the spec, wireless or wired, even 2.4ghz. Windows and Mac. Comes with Gateron Pro switched so lubed. Lots of sound dampening inside. Ordered one with Brown switches because Red and Kangaroo are sold out, will probably replace them with Yellows I have.

The keyboard even when stock sounds amazing in this demo. I don’t think I need to mod it at all.

1/3rd of the price of my finished Q1.

I still take mine to work, the Bubble is currently the main work horse at work just because i love the flex of the board and much prefer Linears (CJ's) at work as it makes less noise. Don't wanna take my other boards apart jus to put different switches in now as i've got a point where i am happy with the typing feel and sound signature of each board.

I went through so many keyboards in my head.

2 things that I must have for the new board

1 - I wanted something in white...not sure why.
2 - I want an ANSI board

Other things I want to tick off in the future.

Alice layout
65%

And I want to try other brands other than Keychron.

This board seems "cheap" for what you get, cheap enough to take a punt. I know it won't be on the level of this Q1 I have now, which I think sets the bar quite high but would be interesting to see how close it can get.

This is my current workhorse, with some GMfake keycaps.

I notice that there are 4 keys above your arrow keys. One thing that I only realised when i got the Keychron, never noticed in the photo, that the Q1 only has 3. It has Pgup, PgDown, Home....there is no End.

The first draft of this post I wrote about that looks just like my Q1 and I don't think I want another one identical to it, besides the knob. But my Q1 also has the Ctrl on the right side, which I never use anyway.

Anyway, I realise now that it is hard to nail down the exact spec of the keyboard without trying some, without going the limits and see which key I really need or what. To get the balance of the size and layout.

If its VIA compatable (which I think the Q1 is), you could change the keys to do whatever you like.

I've done that on a few of my boards.

Well I did build my Zoom65 EE briefly on Friday and had a play with it over the weekend. Still getting used to the smaller size and figuring out what keys map to what but has been a super nice experience to start off with. Not sure it would be my daily driver but certainly a nice travel board with the addition of bluetooth.

Currently have it in pieces waiting for an additional plate going to try out FR4/Brass plate to figure out which one I like best and also fix the horrific noise my space bar stabs are making (I really need to figure out what I am doing wrong with them as I get all the other ones sound nice but the space bar just is horrific)

But for a dip into the smaller keyboard layout I have been super impressed by them so far. I still think TKL is my preferred size but these are great just to grab and go.

For a travel board do you still prefer a heavy board? Like with the weights at the base?

re space bar, is the wire dead straight?

Yes the wire is straight and flat. This was a rushed build so expected to fix the stab and going to probably change them for the owlab stabs as I prefer those. But I am waiting for my plates to arrive so it will be a complete tear down and also lube my switches even though they sound good stock.

For the travel board I am more looking for lightweight boards so I didn't get the brass internal weight upgrades for either zoom. Currently I am using my purple Cypher FRL1800 board as a travel board but havign these as an option is even better.

My Zoom65 here too - with:

- Internal Brass Weight, SS PVD Black Weight, Black Brass Knob
- Black Cherry Pie Switches
- Alu Plate
- Domikey WOB keycaps, with Dolch Mods
- Alu artisan
- No foam used
- TX Stabs

It's heavy, and expensive - I like more clacky sound and this is still quite deep. Feels great though.
