Bingo!
Another TKL that i can use for work!
White top Black bottom premium with the brass weight. It's a lovely board, really reminds me of the Jelly! Yeah i don't know why i said TKL lol, probs had TKL on my mind!Nice what colour did you go for in the end (also you know it's a 75% board not a TKL) but from the images I have seen in the PT discord it is a lovely looking board.
I finally had a few artisan's arrive today my GB from CYSM (keybees) and finally get my first key cap GB arriving tomorrow ePBT Acid House & Sweet Girl. Now the wait for Zoom65 EE, CW 88 and Vertex Angle over the next month.
If you've only just discovered this thread then you know how deep the rabbit hole gets haha. Some of us in here are very deep in this hobby and i know some people who are £10k+ in with GMK sets! Mind boggling!I did not know this thread exists!
I just discovered this thing, having had 2 Keychrons (K2 and K8), I now want a proper full custom board so have been researching and reading for the past week and today ordered a Keychron Q1 V2 ISO exploded 75% with a palm rest in Navy Blue. Also ordered some Gateron Milky Yellow Pro switches (after watching a video) as i found those sounding the best to me, perfect balance between quiet, creamy and thonk.
I did order a set of PBT caps from keychron, mostly because it's cheap, as a stop gap but want something more fun.
Top of the list at the moment are these, also liked the Noel as well but not decided yet. I think something light would go better with the blue base?
Might get a coiled Aviator cable but will wait until the board is built first.
Total cost should be about £350 all in.
Yeah, I had a quick glance at the next tier boards and you can pay £500 just for the frame before anything else. I think the Keychron board is a decent enough starting point with what it comes with.If you've only just discovered this thread then you know how deep the rabbit hole gets haha. If you want a truly unique board you should have a look at some of the custom boards coming from smaller studios, the Link65 might interest you if you're into 65% keyboards.
The oil Kings are really nice but having used CJ's now i much prefer them as they're so smooth with the polished stem meaning you don't need to lube them. Maybe just swap out the springs for TX springs as i was told to make them feel even better.Goddammit, I need to Stop already…
Ordered my PBOW keycaps above but also ordered some Gateron Oil King too….just because. I also have an urge to get an Alice keyboard but want ISO and Mac compatibility and I think only Keychron makes this?
Then may be later I’ll try a normal 65% at some point lol
I need to stop….

Pretty much mate, i use VIA to map some of my keys, if gives you a lot of options. Failing that you can always use QMK as well which i think is open source and openly works with pretty much everything though a little more complicated, it has a lot more functionality.Question - Not having ISO layout is not a dealbreaker but what is a dealbreaker is mac imcompatibility.
So my question is....would that be overcome if I make sure the keyboard is VIA compatible, then I can just map the keys to suit? Like where the @ and £ are.
TX springs do a 50 i think, look on Mechmods or keebcats.Anyone replaced springs? I've got outemu red and I would like more resistance. 50g feels about right.
I can't find springs which are 50g they're either above or below that
I don't think its quite the same mate, the standard for lubing springs is GPL 105 oil, i would go with that incase there's any issues. A small bottle isn't very expensive, put a few drops into a bag and put your springs in the bag. Puff the bag up and shake it with the springs and oil inside to bag lube them. Add more oil if necessary.I have a big tub of Wahl clipper oil is that ok to use for spring oil ?
