Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

When i got my V1 Max i went with the banana's.

They was ok but because i use the PC either very late at night or early in the morning i swapped them out for Akko Fairy Silent switches.

Not completely silent but they are very quiet. They do mute the RGB a bit though. Think it cost me £30 for 90 switches (2 boxes of 45).

I have a Ducky keyboard with silent reds and the Akko are so much better IMO.

One of the few remaining custom keyboard guys I watch on YouTube/Twitch is Alexotos - and really enjoyed his video yesterday where he spoke about the Ducky One X Mini! 95% of his builds are usually high end custom boards for clients so it was really cool to see what sort of keyboard he uses for gaming and the adjustments he made to improve the sound and feel where he could.

Anyone looking at the NuPhy Air75 V3? I was surprised to see pre-orders for ISO UK layout start 30th June, shipping end of July. This was one of the issues I had with my previous Nuphy, I didn't like ANSI so much.

UK ISO, Brown Nano in white is what I'll be pre-ordering.

I ordered the Keychron Q5 max with banana switches and the silicone wrist rest. Was tempted by the Corsair K65 & K70 but I think I made the right decision.
What a problem i’m having with this.

Ordered from Keychron.uk site initially, then had a sudden urge to check where they are based and yep, ships from Hong Kong. Looked on Trustpilot and its littered with bad reviews saying how long it takes to get to UK. Also mentions could get slapped with UK VAT charges.

So I cancelled it and found it on the rainforest with a £20 off voucher, ordered one for delivery sameday and it supposed to get delivered yesterday but never arrived. Went on chat today with them and it’s now being rescheduled for tomorrow with a £8.99 refund of my last months Prime.

It’s like i’m never meant to get one of these……….

Bought Q2 and Q2 from Keychron UK site and previously bought a couple of others off their Kickstarter campaigns and never got VAT added when it arrived. It does take almost 2 weeks though. I know it seems long when the price is in £ but in the keyboard world, the fact that it is in stock and don't have to wait 2 years is a relatively fast for custom keyboards.

I am currently week 6 wait into my QK Alice board.

Yeh, I was about to say 2 weeks is nothing compared to how it has been with keyboards in the past.

I waited 18 months for GMK Modo 2!

6 weeks is fast, I waited months for my cycle8, not to mention gmk keycaps. My type of patience is not suited to the hobby...

Have to say I have been very impressed with the dirt cheap tri-mode, all aluminium Leobog Hi75C and Weikav Lucky80 I just bought. The latter particularly well made.

@RedMogg That numpad has arrived. I went for silver to match my QK Alice and I must say this is GREAT. There is a very soft gasket feel to it, lots of give. The anodized silver looks nice and feel nice. My only nitpick would be the 2.4ghz dongle has no where to go, I will probably lose that one day, at least it is brand printed so I know what it is in the future.

Well, first I put in my previous favourite Milky Yellows, but the sound was TOO LOUD? if that is possible. It's also not a pleasant thock, it was just loud. Then I thought if it is this loud, it could be the numpad itself so may be some silent switches will give me just enough nose, but NOPE, silent switches are silent! Who would have thought? lol

So I am back to my Nuphy Lemon tactile. The sound profile for this is just right, I might try their linear switches in this line for my Alice Duo because if I recall, the Oil Kings sounds very much like the Milky Yellows.

p.s. randomly it comes with 3 Akko switches? Also, one of the membrane layer wasn't puntured and there was just 1 hole, which I think you can see in the first photo...I didn't know if my 5 pin switches will fit, luckily it did.

Morning all

I recently purchased a Keychron Q6 Max and so far I'm enjoying the keyboard. However I noticed a peculiar thing with the RGB lighting.

The light under the num/clear key is always white, irrelevant of the RGB settings of the rest of the keyboard.

No matter what colour I select it is always white.

You can imagine how silly I felt after pondering this for several days to realise it's a feature of the keyboard to set toggle keys to white when active.

It only occured to me this morning to actually press the key and see what happened

I'm such a newb, lol! :p
