:)Hi All

Just ordered my first watercooling cooling system Ocuk V12 360 "2011 Compatible" hope it arrives friday so can have a go at the weekend. Will be on a X58 for now in a 800d. In a couple of weeks going to look at X79 and learn a bit about overclocking with a bit of luck and maybe buy one. Any help and tips most welcome

from what i understand, i suggest you connect the pump and rad fans to the psu, not the mobo, incase the mobo fails and then the rest of your stuff fries too :p

Thanks for reply but i think i asked the question wrongly am i right in saying the pump plugs into the psu so this is on all the time and would the rear fan header? plug into cpu header and the rad fans header cables plug into sys fan header so they contol the fans. hope this sounds better
 
Plug it into the mobo header if it supports it, that way the mobo determines the speed of the pump, which can do wonders for your ears.

I personally have my fans in a fan controller to determine noise. But providing that you have enough sys_fan headers, your rad fans can go there too.

thanks for quick reply does the pump have 3 pin header then as well as power cable cant look yet as still waiting for them to send it and something like the lamptron for a contoller
 
Lamptron fan controllers are excellent. As for pwm pump control, not all pumps have them I'm not 100% sure what pump you get with that kit but from memory it's the laing d5? If so then it will not have one - simply plug it into a molex socket, and set the pump rpm as you desire.
 
Thanks for that S7cn sorry for the questions it is the laing d5 will wait till i get it to see how to vary the rpm. Looking at the fan controllers i take it the lamptron is good because of the watts per channel does this mean you could put the 3 fans from the rad on one channel so it keeps them the same speed or would they be better with o1 on each one thanks again for your help
 
No worries buddy. Most conventional fans do not draw many amps or wattage unless you're running very high speed fans such as san aces (5000rpm+). I have 4 gentle typhoons on each channel on my FC5v2 and it handles them with plenty of room to spare. I personally prefer to link fans to one channel, so that each of the controller knobs controls a different fan channel:

Channel 1: 4 Gentle Typhoons (Rad 1)
Channel 2: 4 Gentle Typhoons (Rad 2)
Channel 3: 2 Noiseblockers (Case Fans)
Channel 4: Cold Cathodes (Lighting)

The d5's speed control is pretty straight forward, all you need is a screwdriver to rotate the setting. I currently run mine on 4, as it provides adequate flow around my loop whilst minimizing noise. I suspect you will be able to run yours on 1 due to the simplicity of your loop - though when I ran mine on 1 it didn't even sound like it was on!
 
Thanks for that s7cn i take it the fans are on a splitter if you are connecting 4 fans to 1 channel. So when i eventually get my order i will look and see what i need as i have a 800d and i dont know if i am going to put it on the X58 or wait and see what i buy a week on saturday ( sorry cannot say were)
 
No worries, yeah I have them daisy chained with Y splitters, but I'm going to solder them over summer when I do a rebuild ^_^

Also going to get couple of litre deionised water to flush out once ive set it up if that is correct any further suggestions most welcome and thanks for the help
 
Do you have something to secure the tubing to the barbs? Flushing is essential so you've got the right idea and the rest of the kit looks good.
 
Didn't notice the tubing size relative to the barb size, sorry. They will fit snug so it shouldn't be a problem.
 
Cheers for that s7cn could i run ordinary tap water through rad first or no need for that
will try and get some pics if i can but must warn you cable work not to neat didnt know wether to wait till next weekend when might get X79 3939 + asus deluxe or extreme rampage
 
You could, but I'd advise against it because even tap water contains deposits and minerals which could cause some sort of reaction with your rad. The typical convention is flush with vinegar then with distilled water, or just with distilled.

Ok will hopefully have time to get it set up over weekend and give it a couple of runs through with distilled first. Have got spare psu and Antec psu tester so can run with that and leave computer psu unplugged oh and must buy roll of paper towelling lol (just in case)
