I just have to presume they are conditioned to do so by orders - nothing in the facility, customer facing, labs and backstage, happens without Ford's knowledge, as we discovered per Elsie's and Theresa's examples and he plays the admin cards on multiple levels in this game. Their behaviour is so stupid, naive and annoying in context of all the other plots that it has to be planned deception of some sort. Otherwise it may just be the worst written escape plot in history of HBO.

Talking about strange plot devices - episode 8 provided quite a few. Bernard had a momentary flashback to a memory/scene where he strangles Elsie. But the data uplink that Elsie found belonged to Theresa. Elsie was working with Bernard and by extension - with Ford - in this instance. So there would be no reason for Ford or Bernard to remove her from equation...

If you start counting how many plot lines across all timelines have to be wrapped up (in the park and backstage) or at least coherently concluded, it's simply not possible for them to do in two episodes. :(
 
as i put earlier.what a stupid plot.

as i said few eps before could have just done that in the first place.i guess for filling a episode it did its job.

what im worrying now though is antony hopkins a host ? maybe he is alfreds creation.obviously more will be hosts.
 
It's unclear whether Felix (asian lab tech dude) is the most spineless, retarded character in the show or he is being manipulated in some way.
 
No, no. It's the former. From the second he told her "you're more clever than we can ever be" I knew he was stupid.

When she said to make her smarter intelligence should've been put to 1.
 
I can accept most of what's happened in the show apart from those two lab techs. It just isn't believable. Until this episode, Maeve was effectively powerless against them.
 
The two techs story line is ridiculous and why wouldn't Ford be aware to some extent considering we have seen how far his power and reach go. What do the techs do when they finish their shifts and head to e.g. a bar or home? Cower all that time they aren't in the park because Maeve could hurt them*?

*only if they happened to be in a room with her the next day aka a fraction of their total time/day

Lili Simmons - just amazing. Banshee is a must watch for anyone who hasn't seen it.

As for the series - enjoying it. just hope it doesn't go all "lost" and just go surreal.
 
I've given this show some patience

It's cack...

It's trying to be too sophiscated...we could have had some real thrills and spills cheese but the damn show is taking itself to seriously.

A habit of shows these days is to be too clever and end up whistling up their own backside. Hannibal took to season 3 to lose the plot, Mr Robot season 2 barely made any sense. Westworld may have lost it from the get go. :)

I do like it though. More so than most other stuff on at the moment.
 
I'm not sure what I think about episode 8, the different story arcs are starting to get somewhat confusing with nothing actually joining them together in the story or in timelines.
 
So if we're going with the multiple timeline theory:

Does that suggest that William and his buddy work for Delos during the period they're at the park (the other guy whose name escapes me mentions the financial trouble and that their company is considering a buyout)? That opens up two potentially interesting avenues for me:

a) The older version of Williams friend could turn up as a senior Delos employee or board member.
b) The foundation comment made by a guest earlier in the series is actually a red herring, mib is in fact William but his slide from the generally moral character we see during the earlier timeline is triggered by something that happened on his first trip to the park. Following this he becomes much harder, stays with Delos and becomes CEO eventually (the foundation could have been set up by Delos as opposed to individually, and could as others have mentioned been linked to the science used at the park, potentially the use of printed organs, or something along those lines). That certainly opens up some interesting avenues.

Absolutely loving this show, the fact that I'm engaged enough to come up with the nonsense spouted above says a lot.
 
I'm loving this show but the Thandie Newton thread is annoying me to high heaven. Given how potentially dangerous the hosts could be the behaviour of the techs is whacko. I know she's blackmailing them but there is a point where you don't care about that because you have the means to do something about it and the danger is too high.
Also every time a host goes a little loco the controllers seem to pick up on it but Maeve is causing havoc to scripts all over the shop and until the end of episode 8 they seem to be oblivious.

The William story and the Ed Harris story are really driving this thing well and I'm keen to see how the Ford plot progresses. This is a beautifully made show.

At the moment he's aware he is a robot so maybe this is effecting his mannerisms?

I guess at the moment it's useful to Ford for him to be aware. He seems to be able to turn it on/off at will.

The Maeve ARC does seem to be getting a little silly. I'm hoping they can tie it off cleverly. The only way the makes sense if it the techs (or at least Felix) are hosts and this is all part of fords big plan but I'm not sure I like that.

The William/MIB is definitely the most interesting ARC for me atm.

I'm still loving it for what it's worth. :)
