Turned my pc on today but no signal to the monitor, when i checked the 290x i noticed water dripping from it and on closer inspection i found the corsair h80i was leaking from one of the tubes and onto the gpu, so is the gpu fubar or is there any chance it will dry out and still work

Blimey, sorry to hear that mate. Give the card some time to dry, it might start working again you never know. If not, rma and just say it stopped working. :)

If you need this editing because the rma is through OcUk, let me know. :p

I have the gpu out in the sun hoping it drys out, just found my reciept and the h80 is just over 1 year old, gutted about the 290x it was brand new but i bought it off a guy who had it as a replacement for a faulty 7990

Which make was it? Might be worth asking the maker for an rma anyway. If you contact the guy he might be able to provide you with an invoice, then you can say this was the card you sent me as a replacement. Contact the seller. :)

I had a cpu block leak onto my x1900 back in the day while I was using the damn pc and it worked fine after drying out. At the time I was wondering what was going on with the artifacting on the screen only to suss it out a while later. :p

Its a msi gaming edition, the guy i bought it from said he would help with a rma if needed i hope he is

might be wise to get this thread out there a bit, get it known to corsair. It just seems like a one in a million thing thats happened but simply put, if the tube hadnt leaked the card would be fine. They should sort this. i dont usually post much but i fele for ya mate, hope it gets sorted

This is why I am never having any water in my system, it's just to dangerous! Maybe a custom loop but unless I did that no way. Anyway hope you got it sorted, first thing is to see what Corsair have to say about it I think.

That's like saying I'm never crossing a road again in case I get knocked over after you see it on the news. The chances of this happening are extremely slim otherwise you'd see it regularly reported on here. I'm pretty certain the OP will get this sorted without pulling any money out his pocket bar maybe postage.

well I have the stock cooler on and using on board graphics and all is well so that's something I guess, im going to give gpu until tomorrow to make sure it as dry as possible, im thinking it might be a good idea to remove the back plate in case there's any liquid underneath

Corsair arent obliged to pay for any damages to any parts, however they have paid for some peoples. I think the wording from Corsair is on a "case by case basis".

I would say if you get no joy with the RMA. Go over to the the Corsair forums and post. See what comes of it, worth a shot anyways.

Give it a dry out first and then test it. You'll be surprised at how robust electronics can be at times and then how fragile they are the next. If Corsair don't accept liability for it, won't an RMA deal with it anyway? Need to know basis, just say the card died... assuming the card is still under warranty.

A few people are like that though, my brother being one of them. It may be a slim chance but its still the thought of water being near it turns people off it.

ive had chance for a closer inspection and one of the tubes attached to the rad come loose of the barb, the 290x is just below it, would it be possible for the heat from the 290x to warm up the tubing allowing it unseal and come loose or am I just grabbing at straws and the thing was just faulty
