What 49" 4K HDR TV - Now stuck!

So it seems tcb have a 10% exclusive for Currys.. makes it 855 as far as I can tell!!!

Is that online only, or can you use a receipt if you buy in store and still claim bacl? Just can get you a 7% card off Currys, but it would need to be an in store purchase, then if can claim cashback would bring it down to £800.

Online only I'm afraid - although reserve and collect is mentioned, which is paid for in store...would that count for 7% discount?

10% will be on the pre-vat price - so cashback will be about £79 - making it £870

I am gonna wait for it to hit £750 and if it doesn't re-evaluate :)

With compound discounts it drops to a little over 800... Granted it might be a gamble that the offers stack though. Hmmmmm :/
I have locked in a price match at John Lewis for 874 using your link above and I have a £40 voucher for JL which helps if I end up going that way

Guys some advice from anyone would be great please..

I have ordered the KD49XE8005 via John Lewis for £629 and pending delivery next week. But since then I have seen the KD49XE8004 and that it is £100 cheaper and seems to be almost identical?

From what I can gather the KD49XE8004 is a set 100hz, but the KD49XE8005 is 50 but uses motion interpolation yo push that to 200hz. So what is the difference between a baseline of 100hz vs a baseline 50hz with the 200hz interpolation? Does that mean I'll be better off with the KD49XE8005 opposed to the cheaper KD49XE8004 which is funnily enough newer than the more expensive model. Other than that I can't see a difference between the 2 models.

Any advice would be most welcome, thank you.

Sorry dude, I ruled out that model so don't know too much about it.

What I do know is this is in my house now

£749 with 5 year guarantee from John Lewis. Popped in there just to have a walk round and get a better look at some of the screens I have been researching. Have to admit the MU7000 in the 55" does look good in the flesh so if you got one for the £700 it was recently I think you would be happy. They had this in its box on the shopfloor with a note saying damaged small mark on frame. I asked them to open the box for me to check this mark and as soon as I saw it I thought £200 off for that, yes please.

Its about mid way in this pic

And about mid way between top and blue tape in this pic

Basically once, it is on the wall and I am watching the actual screen it will not be noticed. I could easily have done worse getting it out of the box lol

according to hotuk and https://www.avforums.com/threads/buying-a-sony-43xe8004-or-sony-43xe8005.2135700/
they are both 50Hz, as apparently, is the mu7000, but not xe9,
so conventional black frame insertion (alternating with the 50hz freeview/sat frames) is not available, which might help with action sports/football viewing, or higher fps gameing.
they have 100hz/200hz backlight scanning instead

Cant see the pics, what did you go for :x?

The MU7000 is 100Hz on the 55" and above, but 50Hz on the 49"

So

So what's it like? What sources are you plugging in?

I have just plugged it into the network so far to update it and make sure it works properly before wall mounting it (which I will do tomorrow). First out of the box impressions are very good, all I did was change the picture from standard to custom, set everything to off or low and used the free Google Films 4K UHD offer to get Spiderman Homecoming which is just playing as a test now.

Will post up some pictures when I get it in situ tomorrow.

Had a small bit of panic when I found out the wall mount screws on the Sony are M6 and not M8 as on the old Samsung, thankfully as I work on data cabinets a lot I had a ready supply of M6 cage bolts in my tool kit.

The Samsung was also 400x400 and this is 200x200 and the positions Sony have put the holes means the new TV is about 3 inches higher now (I might have to drill another hole in the wall mount rails to lower it a bit, but will see how I get on).

Edit - Camera is rubbish with contrast, over saturated the bright and darkened the darks :(

Edit - Oh and it has plugged into it (all via a STRDN1050 Amp - so 4k but not 2.2HDCP), Sky Q (not 4k box), XBox 1S, PS4, Wii U, PS3. Will use the built in Netflix, Amazon and Plex Apps rather than the Roku box now.

Yeah I think I am :)

Obviously not had a chance to use it in anger yet, but initial impressions are positive. Just need to work out how to get Amazon Prime in 4K. Netflix shows as HDR capable which it didn't on the Roku and the OneS is now on 4K resolution, but nothing from Amazon Prime.

Also will probably tweak the settings over the next week or so to get it "right". Currently using Game mode with the same other options as Custom and not seeing any reason to change back, which would work out great having everything on the one HDMI input on the TV.
