What 4x4?

What about the muttering over possibly stupid levels of tax on 4x4's in the future where the owner cannot justify an acceptable use for them? Do I need to put the crack pipe down?

Dont get a $X$, You can get a 2WD Hilux that is reasonably low to the ground and is almost like a normal car.

Its just a ute.

Its not high and you dont get many blind spots.

Do it!!

You only need a 4X4 if you go off road

Estates are much larger loading area than 4x4's, 4x4's look big but it's really just height, not depth. Unless you get a Humvee.

Something like a Volvo Estate.

It's a myth. Nothing on this side of van has boot like Surf or LWB 4x4s. They are much higher than any estate to begin with. We used to fit standard kitchen appliances upright in our Hilux Surf, and it had wagon gate, like ute, so loading and unloading was really easy.

Oh dear god i'd never have thought i'd read so much anti-4x4 rubbish in one place, but you guys take the biscuit.

Yes extates atre big and carry lots, so do pickups, and yes 4x4's too. I'm supprised we've not seen the tosh about more polution, damage to roads, anti-social, yuppies, pedestrian damage in crashes, etc etc etc.

Its the same old crap every time, some of you really need to stop reading the anti propaganda and start using your brains.

For real! What happened to someone's preference? You gotta love the motoring forum here, ask for an advice on what two seater car to get and the usual people come in here and recommend a mondeo or bmw... :p

I didn't think it was rubbish.

Do you happen to drive a 4x4 mr Razur?

Every day threads pop up on this forum and people try to offer some advice that may be a little bit different to what the OP was expecting and people get their backs up.

We're trying to help. What the hell do you want? A forum where everyone just agrees with you and doesn't try to stop you from making foolish decisions? You came here for advice and you're receiving it.

And the thing that really makes me laugh is that 90% of the time, the OP has already made his/her mind up and doesn't really want advice anyway. A certain financed Astra springs to mind for one.

That's more than satisfactory.

But if you ask for advice and you don't like what you receive, you shouldn't have a right to complain. Unless, of course, you don't actually receive advice.

Sure, why not... ;)

Well, you can import almost any car but you need a model report which i doubt if it available for the kluger.

Nah, she hasnt been on msn for a while now, perhaps she left for australia lol.

Strange, wonder where she ran off to

Have a look for a Kluger and see if you can get the papers and what not, Its no much better looking then the Honda

^^ The Kluger is the toyota highlander...Looks and and seem to have good reviews too. The only downside is the price, the cheapest i can find from my import site is 9kpounds (including shipping)...then i cant find info on model report.

Ok a brief history....Cars made after certain time 96 or less than 10 years old needs to do some rubbish test here :p Some of the test requires certain data that can only be found in th model report - you have to rent one for the test.

It is expensive to do it all alone, can cost more than the car if you have to do it yourself. Having said that, you can get back your money by renting out those datas but the problem here is the Kluger are not a common car here and people hardly import them, hence reason for no model report. :)

I have budget of 5k but i found i can get the same car for 3.5kpound from japan - all i have to do is the test (model report available) register and tax. I would save almost 1kpounds in the process and the jdm has more toys - Kits, airbags and lower mileage.

Don't imports command higher insurance premiums though? So surely it won't be long until the costs outwiegh the initial savings?

Really don't see the point of importing a faux-offroader, that are 10-a-penny anyways.
