What age are you when you do work experience?

We did it late in the summer term of yr 10 (year before GCSEs). Which would have made most people 15yo. Did mine at Goonhilly Earth Station - went up inside a satellite dish, which was quite fun. Apart from that it was surfing this new-fangled internet thingy.

I done mine in a VW main dealers and jacked a car up on the sill instead of the jacking point, brand new passat ;) As you can probably tell I was well liked after that :D

I had a spell of work experience whilst I was at Hogwarts.

I was working in a local bike shop making tea all day. I was 15 I think.
Total waste of time imo.

Did it in the 4th/5th year of highschool, so I'd have been around the 15/16 mark.

It was great too. Computer department of the Michelin with punch cards, vacuum fed tape drives and more bizarrely loads of guy's with brown ties, beards and mostly named Geoff.

Can't remeber how old I was, but I got the sweetest work experiance out of everyone in the school!

I was placed at GM's special vehicles facility in Luton. 1st week was in the engineering department where I used CAD to design and machine bits. Then I was in the design studio. I even had to sign a non-disclosure contract.

The design studio was awesome, there were guys making full size clay models of prototype cars, and I was placed with a designer/stylist. Together we designed a new corvette.

What did everyone else do, they did placements in shops/hair dressers and other usefull things.

I came back with my designs and renderings, and it was the base for my Graphic Design A-Level. The originals ended up on the school wall, I only got them back when I left.

Usefull times, I am now a Graphic Designer/Developer/Engineer/Tech head :-)

School was awesome (for me anyway)

Same :)

Did work exp. for the company I work for, did a little bit of simply coding and tech support etc...

Went off and did my A-Levels, and ended up getting a job with them!

I'm now Lead Programmer & SEO Consultant :)

I did mine at the end of year 10 at British Aerospace Systems and Equipment.

It was awesome they let me loose on SeaDart missile gyros, BAe Hawk artificial horizon gyros, optically aligning the heads in a thing called Ptarmigan which was a 1mb hard disk in a egg shaped pod about 0.5m accross and spent a lot of time in the clean rooms in a "noddy" suit.

I think I did mine in my second year of high school, so I would have been 14. I'm pretty sure it was before we started any standard grade work since we had a week off school. I went round primary schools with a music teacher, it was great fun :).
