What age did you learn to drive at?

I could drive in as much as operate a manual car from around 14/15 when we used to drive bangers around friends fields and things.

I passed my test when i was 17 and 2 months old. Yes i was keen to get on the road as i was young for my school year and my peers were all driving :p

I was 20 years of age, and i wish i had done it when i was 17, but in all fairness i was too busy having a good time and wasting my money on going out and holidays etc.

I had 7 lessons, and passed my test in my own car.

Each lesson only cost 8 quid because i was having them in my own car, they would have been 11 quid each if i had them in the instructors car.

I didn't really have the money at 17 but started having lessons at 18 and then passed at 19 so not too bad really.

I started to learn at 17, but back then I was always skint and wanted to spend my money else where (nightclubs), then joined the navy and did not resume learning again until I was 29, been driving now for only 4 years and to be honest it seems mad that we managed without a car for so long.

Late starter, passed at 31. I had a good income through the majority of my 20's and combined with living in Birmingham and then London, there was no need for me to drive as I was always using public transport.

Really wished i'd passed when I had more money than sense though.

I could drive vehicles and farm equipment from around 8 years old. When I had proper lessons at 17, it was mostly to remove all my bad habits.

Think I had 8 lessons and passed my test in just over a month and a half. Motivation comes from living in the coutryside and wanting my freedom.

Was talking to a girl the other day, living in the sticks and she's only just taking lessions at 30!

Question about a situation I had this morning.

I'm on a dual carriagway, in the left lane with another car RIGHT up my ****.
The left lane turns into a filter lane that goes around an upcoming roundabout and the right lane goes to the roundabout.
I need to get on this roundabout, so I check my mirrors, indicate right and check my mirrors again before I change lanes. But I can now see that the car closely following me has also started indicating right.
At this point I semi-panicked. I was worried about this other car trying to overtake me as I changed lanes, so I cancelled my indictator and planned on just going straight. Next thing I see is the guy behind me, cancel his indictator as well and flash his lights.

In the end I right indicator and change lanes and the guy behind me stays in the left.

Was my decision correct? Or should I have changed lanes regardless of the guy behind me?

I had an embarrassing amount of lessons, however there was a gap in the middle for 3/4 weeks and the only time I drove was once a week with the instructor. :o

Motorbike at about 5-6
Car at about 10-11.
I grew up next to a 10 acre public bit of land that was earmarked for the next phase of development by the local authority....which never happened and it got sold to a private developer.

Passed my car test 8 lessons after my 17th, but I've yet take any kind of bike test.
It's on my "to do" list but not owning a bike, or having a need for a bike I keep keep bumping it down the list.
