There is a lot of bull**** flying around this thread - have any of you taken the time to go watch what these cards can actually do?

Buying this card puts a nail in the PC Gaming coffin? WHAT DRIVEL! :rolleyes:

Flamin noob - it adds to the PC Gaming arena, with Vista and the gfx cards that go with it + physx there isnt a console available that can touch the PC Gaming for graphics quality or game physx.

Check out that - specifically have a look at the high quality Cell Factor multiplayer video.

The very idea behind these physx processors is that its been specifically designed for these calculations - your CPU simply would not be able to do it.

When games are available (specifically Cell Factor) I will be buying one - and to be perfectly honest £200 is a lot cheaper than I was expecting. I was actually expecting them to put the price on par with the top end gfx cards.

I honestly cant see this catching on until it becomes mainstream and intergated into motherboards or making use of multi-cored processors effectively.

I base this on the fact that if I am playing an online game and I blow something up, I may hide behind something that has "shattered".But to someone without this technology am I not hiding behind nothing? Easy target !!

This is like on BF2 if you tone down a lot of effects such as vegetation it is easier to see people hiding in the grass!

I think the game developers have a hard enough time coding their games already with the multitude of hardware configurations available, and at the moment this just adds to the problem.

I like to have the latest technology but will be holding back on this one. For now !

hmm surely with dual core cpus one core can be dedicated to physics while the other does the rest? and with quad core you can have one on physics, one ai etc. Or I am I not thinking dedicated enough lol

I was not expecting to much hype but the fact we have come in this morning to find already 16 pre-orders shows that many people will be giving these a go. Remember for a lot of people £200 is just spare money.....

Plus our OEM ones have arrived into stock so we shall be building up an Ageia powered system very soon.

totally agree with noxis, these chips are the biggest thing since 3d graphics cards. They offer the so much potential, its not just a case of havin a few more boxes or debris flying around, it will create a totally dynamic world (eventually). Look into it things before u criticise them.

I dont agree that its cheap tho! I would have put a £150 max marker on it myself. I wont be buying this first generation of physx cards. I reckon i'll have one by the end of next year tho, gives me a chance to start saving for a new rig

I've got plenty of money

but I'm not wasting it on something with little to no game support, when the games come out to support it then I will probably buy one but not "until" that happens.

OK there is "early adoption" but there has to be a limit this things barely got to gestation

I'd love to have one (when the time comes that they will be useful), however I see a big problem. I run SLI, and a TV card, and as such don't have any free slots at all, let alone one that would accomodate that

i'm playing the waiting game aswell and not just because im poor but obviously because the technology hasnt been fully realised yet and I dont expect it to be for another year at least

I didnt say they were cheap

just cheaper than I was expecting especially how early OCUK have got them on their site. OCUK aren't stupid they know they are one of (if not THE first) to get these in the UK and will price accordingly - once OCUK have competition from the other r/e-tailers the price will drop - their is easily £50 added to the price that OCUK - but they are in the business to make money and while they are the only ones with it the price will be bloated.

When the first 3D cards hit the shelves even the v.poor cards that never made it such as the S3 Virge came with a games pack that used the acceleration I would expect the retail physx pack to come with at the least some demos - Ghost Recon Warfighter or whatever its called is on the verge of release which supports physx - cell factor looks OMG amazing - there is a massive host of titles going to support this.

Valve I gurantee you will have quickly jumped onto this and be offering it - considering their entire campaign and demonstrations in the years leading up to the much delayed/anticipated release of HL2 was all about their physics (remember the barrels??).

What I am waiting to see is if the on board memory on these cards will be making an impact on performance 128mb vs the 256mb. These are so new I have not even heard any discussion on the clock speed - let alone if we will be able to watercool + overclock these suckers

No, two, but there isn't a chance in hell you can get a card in the PCI slot closest to the 2nd video card (I've already tried moving the TV-Card to that point, as I wanted to install a better sound card).

My choice now is get a PCIe 1x Dual TV tuner, and:

1) Get a phys-x processor for the PCI slot
2) Get a decent sound card for the PCI slot

The onboard sound sucks
