What are the chances

OP stated the socket was like that when he removed the CPU. This makes me think that the socket pins were fine before the CPU was installed as surely he would notice they were bent before he installed them (if they were) if he noticed it afterwards?

I was asking regards the SATA port which was damaged.

I have no idea chaps
One of the sata connectors is bent badly and there are a few scratches along the traces at the left hand side of the board

dude, have you seen how tiny they are?

I had to take that picture up close just to see how bad it was

in bright light its hard to see

its not my fault at all.

Im not to blame here. Im allways very very careful

EDIT

Also, ill uplolad a picture of the scratches and the bent sta port.

You dont get that from removing a cpu lol

The last CPU I installed had pins and the moboard had the "holes", thats why my first comment. So do the later CPUs just have contact pads and the pins are on the mboard? If so, do the pins just touch contacts, or do they actually slot in. Sorry for newb question.

From that it looks like the tracks are badly damaged. If you are sure you didnt do that you might have accidently been sent a damaged return item. Perhaps it could have been returned to OC as an unwanted item and ended up on the normal stock shelves. Good luck with it.

Yeah im 100% mate

Like i said, im allways very careful when it comes to PCs.

I dunno if ocuk would send out a bad board tho surely

Especially that the box was crushed aswell

But i didnt thing anything of it until the thing wouldnt switch on

Kept restarting every 10 seconds and nothing on screen either

Again, im bl;aming DPD on this one as its happend before

Honestly you will get the blame for the pins being bent and rejected because of that, it's just how it is with motherboards, bad luck OP, I did receive a badly damage box from OcUK myself, luckily nothing was damaged and it went back under DSR as I had changed my mind on it anyway, I still have the pictures of the damage that inadequate packing and rough handling from DPD caused.

if it was just the CPU pins i could understand if they did that but this is clearly a case of bad handling from DPD

I wont take the blame for this at all

like i said before, if it was my fault i would have thrown it in the bin and orderd another board by now.
