What are the chances

Even with massive box damage, the CPU pins are behind a plastic clip shield. How on earth did that happen, without OP noticing while installing?

There wasnt any cap on the cpu at all mate!!

And i just didnt notice the pins being bent.

Tbh i wasnt even looking for such things to be wrong with it.

Like i said, im blaming DPD, the packaging was awful and had been tamperd with but i didnt think anything of it. Upon quick inspection it looked fine.

So i built it, it didnt work and then after a close inspection i found 3 things wrong and tbh im not happy about everyone saying this wont get sorted when it wasnt my fault.

If it was id just by another board and be done with it .

Im not the only person to have things wrecked by DPD.

Its uncalled for.

Chances are you'll get the "user error".
However, burden of proof falls upon OCUK to prove they weren't damaged before they sent it.

I have every bit of faith in OCUK.

I dont think they are at fault, its DPD that im blaming here and its not the first time ive had items crushed either by them.

Last time it was a CPU cooler.

I can live with that but this is much more expensive and im not exactly made of money lol

i just want a replacement that im entiteld for

Theres also track damage on the board and one of the sata ports are bent.

If the thing would have workerd then id live with the scratches and wonky sata ports lol

I think a good way to determine who the damage was caused by would be by looking at the CPU Socket cover.. If that's damaged then it most likely was in transit. Otherwise it could be either user error or manufacturing error.

You got a returned board.

There was no CPU cover mate

Dont think ill be using DPD in the future tbh

Most likely.

Not having a plastic socket cap is a dead giveaway.

Or its been tamperd with prior to me recieving it

Im 100% this is what happend

I took so pics of the packaging last night aswell

I dont really care about the packaging though as long as the dam thing worked lol

But heres a couple of pictures and im sure ocuk wouldnt send out a board with the box like this

Was the board sent wrapped in bubble wrap in a bag rather than a cardboard box?

hi mate, nope there was no bubble wrap and the dpd bag was allready open

but im not the sort of guy to go jumping to conclusions until ive fully tested it etc

So when the cpu arrived yesterday i tested it and after i found al the problems i posted up on here

Shame you cant edit the posts in the customer service section lol

Poor ocuk have 8 posts to read through :D

Possibly.
If that item arrived as you've described I'm pretty sure every sane person wouldn't try to use it and would instead get onto OCUK.
No CPU socket cover etc..

Alarm bells would ring.

Well they are ringing now i assure you lol

Like i said mate, if it was working i wouldnt care about it so bad

Im so tempted to order another motherboard as i need a PC

I can see this ending badly tbh and if it does because of someone elses poor handling im not going to be very happy about it

Ill still order my stuff from ocuk but i wont be using dpd thats for sure

Like i say everything looked fine at a glance appart from the packaging. I didnt even notice the cpu pins, they arnt exactly massive lol

EDIT

Every sane person?

That not a nice thing to say at all :P

Mate i have a lot of trust in ocuk and i just wasnt looking for it

Simple as that

Well if nothing else it's a good lesson not to be in such a hurry ;)

When you put a CPU in your motherboard, it's standard practice to check for bent pins (in the socket or on the CPU) before trying to mate them.
