What are you listening to, GD?

After listening to Cyberpunk 2077’s Radio Vexelstorm playlist in Spotify, it helpfully suggested a playlist named “Sludge” which appears to be some unhinged industrial techno/EDM/metal crossover.

I‘m rather enjoying it.

Oh I know the album is based on Pink Floyd, I just haven't seen this specific album mentioned in ages. They were decent Live. May have to listen to it again soon it's been so long
Personally looking forward to seeing them at the Mucky Weekender Festival.

Plumps are there as is Nicky Blackmarket, Jefferson and Natty (what could possibly go wrong (apart from the weather!))

For me, that's one hell of a line up.

At this point I'm convinced Nicky Blackmarket will be mixing until he a geriatric. Proper legend of the game and a nice dude as well. He always used to make time for fans. Though I've not been proper raving in years so maybe he is jaded now lol.

He's a top chap (QPR fan though, so not all good lol) ;)

Lol one of my "wtf moments" at a rave was when a friend and I were pretty sober and just wanted to enjoy seeing some decent DJing (Bedroom dj for life, and all that jazz). We were at Motion in Bristol which is quite big but this was back when it was literally a skatepark monday-friday and a club on the weekends. It was one of the smaller and intimate rooms and I can't remember if it was NB or maybe EZ Rollers but they had IC3 with them. Either way, some big jungle was going down as my friend and I nod along as if we are a pair of DJ aficionados but we were pratically over the booth to the point we could use the little barrier as a stand.

Then the most bizarre and surreal thing happened. Mid mix, some drunk idiot literally took it upon himself to attempt a wheel up on the turn tables. We just looked at each other in disbelief as at this point I had been to hundreds of raves and never seen anything like that happen. The DJ was obviously vexed and then IC3 picked the scrawny kid up and dumped him at the back of the room

Was a wild thing to see happen

Motion is new school (showing my age!).

I could tell you some things that happened at Lakota, Cosies, The Bank, Lawrence Hill and god knows anywhere else I went to (that would make your eyes water)!

Fabric in London is coolio. As was The End (not that I can remember much of that club lol..), The Cross, Maple. The Fridge. Free parties in Hackney. And this is just off the top of my mind.

Would love to go to Fabric again soon. Also The Tunnel, which is now closed down.

Anyways. Apart from Space, which was cool but not the best really (too many idiots and that). Space had the best sound system I have ever heard. So many speakers, sound was coming out from everywhere that you couldn't quite figure out.

DC10 was a better night out as that place was wild. But that sound system at Space. Untouchable, just out of this world. And yeh, didn't even drink or whatever else that night, didn't need to.

Wait, are you from Bristol? There is no way anyone outside of Bristol would know about Cosies! That was one of the few places that would let us in when we were underage! Know all about Lakota and The Blue Moon was actually owned by a family relative! Lakota isn't what it once used to be. Had some crazy nights in that place. A dive from the outside but a legendary venue.

I went to a few Fabric Playaz nights and maybe a Hospitality there as well. Was a real shame when that place got shut down. But I hold it dear iny my heart along with places like Custard Factory and Air in Birmingham. Go to Fabric again? wasn't it shut down for good?

How are those sound systems compared to Valve? Man, that Valve system has probably given me hearing loss in a few years but seeing Dillinja and Lemon D shut the place down was worth it. There is another sound system that rivaled Valve but it escapes my mind right now. I want to say EV-Lav but that could be my spangled brain reading valve wrong at the time!

I feel a bit old now. Not in literal age but I know I don't have it in me any more to drive up and down the country hitting raves and sleeping in the car before driving back any more. Went to so many good events over the years though. Some were terrible but some places were great. One particular night in Bournmouth fire station (i think) was great. A nigh out up in Derby at some roller disco place wasn't.

What I'd give to have NYE@NEC reinstated and how much i used to look forward to things like Westfest, Global Energy/Gathering and Sanctuary back on my calendars.

I remember the Valve sound system.

They were giving out (the bouncers) ear plugs when going in.

Those speakers should never have been in a club!

@Junglist.

When you say Bournemouth. The NEC or..?

Did you ever go to the Opera House? That was a bonkers place.

All good fun though lol ;)

Bournemouth I went to a place called The Old Firestation. I think it was Bournemouth anyway. NYE@NEC I did in 2008 for definite can't remember if I did it or opera house in 2009. NYE@NEC always felt like such a huge event though because the rooms felt massive.

Yeah, I went to a few One Nations at the Opera House. I definitely did a One Nation NYE at the Opera House maybe 2009 or 2010. Very good venue. See, now I just fancy going out but I just can't hack it any more haha.

Wish I had the full tape pack of this night. Was brilliant and that SkyFX set has to be one of the best sets I ever saw. Though, Jungle Drummer and DJ Fu was super cool to see live. Still doesn't feel right that Skibadee is gone. Proper weird one that.
