What Are You Reading?

Just finishing up The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Excellent book but certainly not worth the hype surrounding it. It's just a good crime novel with a few clever twists. I doubt I'll remember anything by the weekend.

Also read the new Lincoln Rhyme novel by Jeff Deaver last Sunday. Some entertaining light reading that I can highly recommend.

Should start the next book in the Millennium novels by tomorrow which will keep me occupied the rest of the week. Have tons of travelling to do next week so should get a lot of reading done as well.
 
One more thing. I recently started reading Jo Nesbo books which is another Scandinavian author. Can highly recommend his book. Very clever and entertaining writer who's Harry Hole series of books kept me up late in the night. Even my girlfriend loves his books.
 
Just finished

Black Mischief by Evelyn Waugh.

Don't really see what the fuss about Waugh is to be honest. Book was uneventful and not particularly funny...


Resurrection by Tolstoy is next on the list.
 
Just finished:

The Left Hand of God = 8/10

I enjoyed it quite a lot, though there were some points where I thought the author could have done things differently. There are some memorable characters who been built up well, Redeemer Bosco is one of them. It's ended on a cliffhanger and I have to wait until January before I can continue through this series.

I'd recommend it to people who enjoy battles, damsels in distress, assassinations, political intrigue all set in a medieval period. All that good stuff.
 
Currently reading Horus Rising by Dan Abnett. So far its really good and is holding my interest, but theres at least another 12 books to go after this one so ill be on a while :p

Best fantasy series i've ever read! :)

Edit: Just noticed you said you had read this series already, well I will leave this here anyway because it's such an epic series it deserves being read some more...

I also enjoyed the Wheel of Time books and can't wait for the next book in the series.

I'm currently reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. Not quite as good as the aforementioned series but a pretty good read none the less. I'm up to book 4 on this series now (House of Chains).

Yeah, one of my mates has just finished Nemesis and the other has just finished Thousand Sons, so ive got a lot of catching up to do.
 
One book I forgot to add - definately give 'The Name of the Wind' by Patrick Rofuss a look, its the start of a new fantasy trilogy, won a fair few best newcomer prizes when it came out. Its fantasy, but so far manages to avoid all of the usual fantasy cliches, very well written, genuinely intruiging storyline, I personally cannot wait for the second in the series.
 
About three quarters of the way through reading No Country for Old Men - I loved the film, and the book is practically identical. The Coen brothers did an excellent job moving it to film.

Cormac McCarthy is a great writer, certainly not one to shy away from tough ideas and plots. The Road was fantasitc too, as were the border trilogy - though it takes a while to get into them as he used no punctuation.
