Hi Guys

I've been taking driving lessons with a view to get a family car if I can afford it, I hope I can't as I'm then able to get a Bike instead however I'm not sure what to get being so tall, only bikes I'm not really keen on are the big tourer types like bmw's Ive seen

So what do you suggest?

I remember sitting on this and feeling intimidated !

I'm 6'4 couldn't plant my feet fully

Aye, it's a beast to be reckoned with. I'm 6'2 and could only put one of my feet on the floor. Such power/torque too, coupled with that fat 4 stroke growl...mmhmm.

They go for 2-3k second hand. Sometimes less, I've even seen them go for <2k in a decent condition.

Worth mentioning the xt660x and xt660z too, same bikes but different finishes:

If you don't like the BMWs then I doubt the z is your thing though tbh.

I am not sure about long journeys as he suffers from a fatigue syndrome, but he still manages to do track days so he probably does go about 250 miles there and back dependant on which track he goes to.

Try a DL650. I have one, ok im only 6ft tall, but have a sit on one and see how roomy they are!

Can pick up an alright 05 ish model for 2.5k.

Does he do long journeys on it? I would be using it to travel up to Scotland and back!

I'm not being funny but if you want to travel long distances frequently then an R1 is definitely not the bike to ride. Even someone of average height would find it miserable. Sports bikes are also relatively high maintenance.

You want to look at sports tourers or just tourers if you're travelling long distances.

Oooo pic opportunity 101 :D

I'm 6ft 5 & that fits me like a glove & it's only a 125, It is built full size though to take the 300/350 engine conversion.

Thats not a bike.... Its porn!

really liking the look of a lot of these bikes, really like the Kawasaki Versys at the moment... but will only have a maximum budget of £2000 so am not too hopefull on that one
