What book are you reading...

That's odd Evans, I absolutely loved Scanner Darkly
Me too, one of my favourite PKD books!

I've just finished Berlin Game by Len Deighton, the first part in his Game Set & Match trilogy. Set in the 80's, it is a spy thriller with a story that pulls you in and moves at a great pace. Some interesting characters, great dialogue, and a nice twist in the tail that you can see coming but is still pleasing to read. I recently read Smiley's People by John Le Carre, another spy thriller and part of the Karla trilogy. They are both great stories but I prefer the writing style of Deighton, and I think that the dialogue and interaction between characters in Berlin Game is better.

I'm now tempted to go straight onto the next in the series, but I've also got the first book in the Mazalan series ready to go.

Malazan! MALAZAN. MALAAAZAAAAAN. And buy the second book now, because you will want to move straight onto that. The first book can take a while to get into, simply because of the amount of stuff Erikson introduces in a relatively short space of time, but once you get to the stage where you can 'hold' all the characters, factions, locations etc in your head, it'll all come nicely. Some sections may need a read through again to fully make sense of it, but don't let that put you off.

Just finished King of Thorns by Mark Lawrence, nothing deep but pretty entertaining. Thinking I'll try The First Law Trilogy from Joe Abercrombie next.

Currently reading This Book is Full of Spiders, having finished John Dies at the End a couple of days ago.

I really liked JDATE, but this one is better in my opinion, because it's actually a proper book, whereas JDATE felt like what it was, which was a serial turned into a book.

Read Divergent and Insurgent before that and really enjoyed them. Something about YA fiction I like for some reason, maybe I'm just simple. Quite looking forward to the next one.

About to start listening to the Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire) audiobook in the car.

With buying a new car, I now have no USB/AUX input, and no CDs, so I thought it a constructive way to fill my journeys to work!

Finished reading Metro 2033 around a month ago, currently reading a range of books including The Magicians Nephew, White Flag of the Dead and the Hobbit.

Quite enjoyed reading Metro 2033, nice descriptions of the characters but some of the dialogues were a little bit long and didn't help direct the story.

White Flag of the Dead i'm loving. I'm on volume 1 but excited to start the next volume.

I just finished reading Halo: Cryptum, I really enjoyed it especially after playing through Halo 4 last week. Going to start reading the second book in the series today.

It's the first book I've read in many years, how I have missed it.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - The Valley of Fear. Great stuff as usual, would highly recommend reading the Sherlock Holmes books to anyone.

Just finished Paradise Lost, re-read the first four books tonight since I took a break when I finished book four and read 5-12 over the weekend. It may well be the best poem I've ever read and it's an easy top ten - the scale and scope of the poem is amazing and it really does lend itself to repeated reading.

Just finished reading Day by Day Armageddon - Shattered Hourglass. Massively disappointed having loved the previous two books. Big change in writing style and a very rushed and unsatisfying conclusion.

It was like he couldn't be arsed to finish it. There was another 200 pages in there at least for me.

Just started Red Country by Joe Abercrombie after working through the First Blade trilogy, Best Served Cold and Heroes. I've really enjoyed these - does that mean I'm likely to enjoy the Malazan series? Im reading some positive stuff on here

Just finished Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson - really enjoyed it but then FFFFFUUUUUUU'd when I realised that it was Book 1 of 10 and we're still waiting on Book 2 :p

Off to read Night's Dawn Trilogy by Peter Hamilton now :p

*edit*

Just started the daylight war 3rd book in the demon cycle, lookong forward to it after the desert spear..

Heh, can totally relate. I just started the WoT, after finishing Way of Kings. Feels good knowing I have a gazillion books of a complete series to read :)
