What browser do you use?

I've literally just installed firefox 3.5 after using iceweasel 3.0.6

Trying to get the bloody browser button in LXDE to actually open firefox!

I've used Firefox for a while now I used it on Windows and now Ubuntu. Firefox hasn't locked up on me under Ubuntu. It use to lock up a lot on XP and Vista. I used Firefox on Windows as I thought more virus are likely to be written to attack IE. It grew on me.

Was using Firefox (mainly for the web developer extensions) but have recently switched to Chromium, which is much faster, or feels that way at least.

Started playing with Chromium myself and i certainly feels snappy and responsive, however - the lack of ad-block support is a bit sucky, as is the fact that it uses a huuuge amount of ram (the latter is just a bit sucky though, as I have 4 GB).

Still liking Arora though and would recommend it to anyone who wants to try out something a bit different. Use the latest releases from the project website if your distro's repos aren't as up to date, as the older versions don't support adblocking and have trouble staying logged into vBulletin forums - like this one!

Use IE8 for 443 stuff.

in wine?

EDIT: If you're a bit paranoid about security (and this is tinfoil hat stuff...), the best way to do it would be to have a set of virtual machines that you have snapshots of, use the browser from one of them - we'll call the one for regular surfing "red", you have one called "orange" for other stuff (like forums that you have logons for, but not regular surfing) and one called "green" for ONLY buying stuff/banking. revert the snapshots for red every month, orange every week or two weeks and green every time you use it.

If you're using VirtualBox, you could even use the passthrough mode (or whatever it is called) to integrate it with your current desktop.

Opera for everything but e-mails, and Firefox for when I'm on Hotmail.

Never really have an issue with sites not working in Opera, with the exception of Hotmail, those that don't work in Opera load fine when you fake it to be IE or FF, although most of the time I just check the HTML if I'm only looking for a link.

Oh, and Opera 10 has much better compatibility with sites than Opera 9.X, tested the beta months back and excellent :)

Haven't noticed this with my version (4.0.222.5 (Ubuntu build 28701)). My total memory usage at the moment with several apps open is about 240MB. One of the perils of running from the development version perhaps?

I use Opera for everything.. Have done for years! I use it on my desktop (Vista), lappy (Vista/Ubuntu) and my phone! :)

Have tried the others but just don't seem to get on with them as much..

I find that running opera/firefox uses something in the region of 200-400 MB if I leave it open for any length of time, whereas with less tabs and less time, chromium easily exceeds that. Like I said, it's not a huge issue, as I have more than enough ram to handle it.

I have Firefox and Chrome. Just switched to Chrome the other day. It is much snappier than Firefox. Although Firefox has StumbleUpon and many other amazing add-ons.
