Sorry for my crappy threads but I just got my insurance renewal through and it has dropped by £700!

So I have been getting quotes for faster cars...I don't have my heart set on anything at the moment, but all I know is that I do not want another Honda.

I want a RWD next. I love driving so want something fun and must not be less than 200bhp.

I have just got a cheap quote for an Mazda RX7 so have just done a quick search to see what is available and have found one 4 miles away from home. However, it has 92,000 miles on the clock and I know NOTHING about these motors.

My last thread was on the Fiat Coupe and got a mixed reaction (as expected - good) but insurance is higher on this than an RX7.

I quite like the idea of an MR2 Mk2 '94 or above, erm, what else...

Cannot think of anything else at the mo...Evo's and Scoobs are too much to insure as are Skylines so that's pretty much all 4x4's that I like out of the equation and the Pulsar GTi-R looks a bit too ricey.

Any input welcome!

In all seriousness mate it seems as though your bored with cars as they are not giving you the speed sensation you require.

IMO....get a bike! ;)

Cheers :)

I've thought about that, but just don't trust myself.

I want something that is fun to drive without having to go fast (my car). A bike would be good as it's a raw driving experience, but with my luck I would get knocked off every probably. Maybe later - who knows?

Maybe if you had a Type R engine in your Type R it would be a little more exciting.

Nope, not really.

If you have nothing decent to say...you can **** for all I care.

I'm so tempted, just look at it!

But it has 92k miles on it and apparently they go bang at 60k but I guess it has had a rebuild.

You cant even manage to buy the most reliable performance car ever made without ignoring blatant warning lights on the dashboard and then subsequently blowing it up.

Do you honestly think an RX7 is the right car for you?

There were no warning lights on when I bought it. (When it did come on, it was because of a dodgy lambda sensor).

Again, if you have nothing better to say, go away.

 did you have 2 pugs?

I've had 7 cars. :p

When I bought my car I didn't check the oil until nearly two weeks after only to realise that it was bone dry. So either it was nearly empty when I bought and the previous owner didn't realise. Or they knew that it was drinking oil but didn't tell me, but either way I should have checked it I know. School boy error.

If I'm honest, I don't think I could sell my car privately to someone without telling them about the prelude engine that it has in it. However, I think I would feel less guilty trading it, so that's an option, maybe...

I remember ringing up about one of my previous cars to be told that it was mint, so drove quite far, not that far but far enough for a car to find that it was far from mint. It was only cheap and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of looking for another car so I just bought it. On too many occasions have I been told that the previous owners brother was a mechanic, or the previous owner was an aircraft technician for the RAF which is all a load of ********. So my reckoning is that if they can mess about with people who come to look at their stock then I would feel less guilty about selling my car to them.

But we'll see.

I've got to replace all the tyres and the front brakes but will probably end up replacing them all as I can get a full set with mintex pads for £250 which is a bargain imo. So realistically I probably won't be selling the car just yet.

I could save up £2.5k which should see me with another ATR engine plus fitting, but that won't be for a good few months yet as I have to save up with a wedding abroad.

The prelude engine:

My friend had a major accident in his Prelude JDM and it was consequently written off. I bought the whole thing from him for less than 200 notes and got the engine fitted from it into my car as a temporary replacement.

There is nothing else wrong with my car other than the wheel bearing so I think I will just stick with it - see what happens.

I shall be looking at other cars though still...

All the comments about the engine. I think I prefer this one for daily driving because it has more 'go' low down. With the H22A7 I had to really boot it before VTEC to get it going but this one requires less effort which suits me more.

It also sounds ******* loud aswell, whether that's because of the compression difference of this prelude engine and my twin exhausts I don't know. I do miss that roar of the VTEC from the other engine but like I said before I rarely use VTEC now and just want something with more power on tap without having to switch it on so to speak.

This is ridiculous. It's pointless you buying anything else becuase you are one of those who just gets bored with everything after 30 seconds. Do you have an attention span the size of a newt or something?

Get a Focus diesel for going to work in and find another hobby. You are obviously not interested in cars :p

Here go.

1st: Pug 306 1.9 DTurbo - crashed. Young and stupid.

2nd: Pug 205 1.4 GT - crashed. Not my fault, white van man smashed into me whilst waiting at traffic lights.

3rd: Ford Fiesta 1.6 16v Si - Hit at deer @ 60mph, wrong place, wrong time. I am just THAT unlucky it's unreal. Hardly any damage surprisingly. Sold to a friend for £50. Couldn't be bothered to fix my self. He did it but just pulling out the bumper and used a bit of radweld and it was fixed along with some new headlights.

4th: Pug 205 1.8 DT - Sold, boring car, very slow. 0-60 literally about 20 seconds.

5th: Pug 205 1.4 Rallye. Sold. Wanting something reliable, newer, faster...

6th: Accord Type R

7th: Prelude for the engine.

Did you keep the ATRs gearbox and Limited Slip Diff? If its going to cost you 2.5k for another A7, definatly look into turboing that prelude lump you have there! The handling of the Accord is razor sharp, if you added a lazy mans turbo engine that can also rev then you pretty much win on all fronts!

I think so yes. I saw my old clutch which had pretty much had it. The prelude had just had a new one fitted before it was crashed so I guess they fitted that to my gearbox.

Which reminds me, when I get my new tyres fitted I'll test to see if it does have the LSD...

Hello mate

Only image of that one that I've got. Looks quite pink in the photo.

Pug 2 205 1.4 GT (2nd car - R.I.P) Actually sold this to Westy. I loved this car!!

Pug 3 (4th car) 205 1.8 DT Had fitted GTi springs to the front which made it rock solid but the rear was a bit...boaty. And GTi front brakes. Didn't cost much but it all needed replacing so I upgraded.

Pug 4 (5th car) 1.4 Rallye

Fitted a sunstrip, loud exhaust which I couldn't be bothered to remove after I fitted it. Used to burble and pop when you are off the throttle all the way down to idle that I liked but was too loud and eventually put standard box back on. Still popped as standard :D

Fitted a different carb which had a slightly larger 2nd choke with a K&N bolt-on and larger jet. And eventually some 1.6 GTi rims and sunstrip lol
