What car?? Bored of Type R

If you like somthing exciting and you have a low budget go for a Rev 3 MR2 Turbo (as already surgested). If you have a higher budget TT Supra all the way baby, you'll be surprised about the insurance as well!!!

I'm so tempted, just look at it!

But it has 92k miles on it and apparently they go bang at 60k but I guess it has had a rebuild.

Wouldnt touch it, unless you've got the paper work for the rebuild, if you have the paper work then it's nearly ready for another one! If you want unreliable go for a TVR

No doubting their potential, and pedigree but I must say that a ride in a GT4 felt very unquick to me :(

I know it doesn't "sound as quick" as a VTEC but it never really seemed to feel like it was getting going, even though the speedo told a different story.

I like to feel the acceleration, but this was something I never got from the GT4.

They are quite civilised in comparison, but did you go in a modded or unmodded one? If you like i'll show you what my car sounds like on full chat, you get the full on turbo sucking noise, pops out the exhaust and 1.1BAR of fun ;)

would 5k get you a E36 M3, insurance might be a killer, pretty sure someone I know is selling his for around that sort of money.
They are fast for sure with a stonking engine.

Heres my old one, one of the best cars I've ever owned!!

I must feel passionate about this, I had a dream last night I was arguing with the OP about selling his ATR and giving him a grilling for breaking his engine......Think Ill take a wee break from the forums!

My personal opinion is that most rwd 200hp+ (unmodded) cars are actually not that much fun. Unfortunately too many are too heavy, have too much grip and weigh too much. Sure, they're often fast in a straightline, but often don't excite in the bendy bits, unless you're talking of something mad like a TVR, which doesn't fit either the price bracket or the reliability requirements.

My thoughts would be either a 200SX with some mods, or an MX5. Nope, the MX5 doesn't have anything like 200hp, but it's a hell of a lot of fun.

 did you have 2 pugs?

I've had 7 cars. :p

When I bought my car I didn't check the oil until nearly two weeks after only to realise that it was bone dry. So either it was nearly empty when I bought and the previous owner didn't realise. Or they knew that it was drinking oil but didn't tell me, but either way I should have checked it I know. School boy error.

If I'm honest, I don't think I could sell my car privately to someone without telling them about the prelude engine that it has in it. However, I think I would feel less guilty trading it, so that's an option, maybe...

I remember ringing up about one of my previous cars to be told that it was mint, so drove quite far, not that far but far enough for a car to find that it was far from mint. It was only cheap and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of looking for another car so I just bought it. On too many occasions have I been told that the previous owners brother was a mechanic, or the previous owner was an aircraft technician for the RAF which is all a load of ********. So my reckoning is that if they can mess about with people who come to look at their stock then I would feel less guilty about selling my car to them.

But we'll see.

I've got to replace all the tyres and the front brakes but will probably end up replacing them all as I can get a full set with mintex pads for £250 which is a bargain imo. So realistically I probably won't be selling the car just yet.

I could save up £2.5k which should see me with another ATR engine plus fitting, but that won't be for a good few months yet as I have to save up with a wedding abroad.

The prelude engine:

My friend had a major accident in his Prelude JDM and it was consequently written off. I bought the whole thing from him for less than 200 notes and got the engine fitted from it into my car as a temporary replacement.

There is nothing else wrong with my car other than the wheel bearing so I think I will just stick with it - see what happens.

I shall be looking at other cars though still...

All the comments about the engine. I think I prefer this one for daily driving because it has more 'go' low down. With the H22A7 I had to really boot it before VTEC to get it going but this one requires less effort which suits me more.

It also sounds ******* loud aswell, whether that's because of the compression difference of this prelude engine and my twin exhausts I don't know. I do miss that roar of the VTEC from the other engine but like I said before I rarely use VTEC now and just want something with more power on tap without having to switch it on so to speak.

This is ridiculous. It's pointless you buying anything else becuase you are one of those who just gets bored with everything after 30 seconds. Do you have an attention span the size of a newt or something?

Get a Focus diesel for going to work in and find another hobby. You are obviously not interested in cars :p

Did you keep the ATRs gearbox and Limited Slip Diff? If its going to cost you 2.5k for another A7, definatly look into turboing that prelude lump you have there! The handling of the Accord is razor sharp, if you added a lazy mans turbo engine that can also rev then you pretty much win on all fronts!

Here go.

1st: Pug 306 1.9 DTurbo - crashed. Young and stupid.

2nd: Pug 205 1.4 GT - crashed. Not my fault, white van man smashed into me whilst waiting at traffic lights.

3rd: Ford Fiesta 1.6 16v Si - Hit at deer @ 60mph, wrong place, wrong time. I am just THAT unlucky it's unreal. Hardly any damage surprisingly. Sold to a friend for £50. Couldn't be bothered to fix my self. He did it but just pulling out the bumper and used a bit of radweld and it was fixed along with some new headlights.

4th: Pug 205 1.8 DT - Sold, boring car, very slow. 0-60 literally about 20 seconds.

5th: Pug 205 1.4 Rallye. Sold. Wanting something reliable, newer, faster...

6th: Accord Type R

7th: Prelude for the engine.

I think so yes. I saw my old clutch which had pretty much had it. The prelude had just had a new one fitted before it was crashed so I guess they fitted that to my gearbox.

Which reminds me, when I get my new tyres fitted I'll test to see if it does have the LSD...
