What car?? Bored of Type R

The CT20b is a name randomly given to that turbo for some unknown reason. The CT20 was actually on the supra !
The "CT20b" is a CT26 with a few mods made by Toyota but it never got a name, hence CT26 is faintly imprinted on the intake side.

Btw this is information I got from midland turbo when getting my friends "CT20b" refurbed after it killed itself !

Ah didn't know that, I have a hybrid CT26, so thats why I said that. :o

No its not, the CT26 has CT26 on the side, the CT20b has "TOYOTA" on the side. And yeah, a CT20b is an uprated CT26.

well, mine certainly has no mention of CT26.

Pretty near 5k now, certainly for 6k but with some good haggling why not very near 5k ?


well, of course the 530i is preferable as they run similar economy with "noticably improved" performance but you can't really hear the engine on any of them and none of them feel even remotely sporty when compared with..pretty much anything but isn't that the point of them? total comfort and refinement? I only mentioned the lower ones like 523i because they command a much lower fee outright in most cases.

However, if you put your foot down @ 50mph on a motorway in any of the 3 mentioned they'll all overtake "fine" :p which is what i mean. They're great in their own right of course, but they're sort of the opposite of vtec aren't they? which is what enfield would probably quite like by the sounds of it.

I absolutely LOVE the look of lordmikes mr2!!

do you need to sell the accord to get your £5k?

if so, ive got a feeling your £5k is going to be pretty hard to come by

youre going to struggle selling that :S
 
Its weird market for ATR's atm, maybe they're being pushed down by CTR's getting increasingly cheap?, i'm sad enough to keep track on a regular basis as its a possiblity for my next car :)

A fully working one with fsh, cambelt + 5th gear syncro etc changed / 2000 plate is going for like...5k right now, some fully working ones as low as 2.5-3k with no service history / background / 27 previous owners etc.

btw lordmike, off topic but have you got any pics of the interior of your mr2 handy? :)

Becuase the ones at the bottom end of the market (And I've yet to see these scabby ones at £5k to be honest) are not cars you want to buy. 5+ owners, patchy history, it's a recipe for disaster. You want a low owner, excellent condition, well looked after example or you don't want one at all. And you don't get that for £5k.

You've never driven one, have you? I'm not going to sit here and say it's as sporty as a Lotus Elise becuase that would quite obviously be ridiculous but they certainly have a 'sporty' feel to them - that is after all the point in the Sport model. You only need to drive one back to back with an SE to notice the difference in 'character' (I hate that word) both cars have. The SE hushes you along in total comfort and refinement, whereas the Sport is slightly harder and a more sporting drive.

They command a lower fee becuase they are older and were discontinued when the range was facelifted. A 528i is not really any more expensive than a 523i, as they are around about the same age.

I personally can't think of a worse car for Enfield - he wont like the refinement as he's said he wants something raw and he wont like the fact that you've got to be really fussy to get a good one. Especially on the 523 and 528's which are now at a minimum 7 years old.

Yea i've driven a 523i , 528i se , and more recently a 530i sport which was well overpriced at a dealer and pressumably in good nick.

The problem here is we all define "sporty" differently. What i'm getting at is that nomatter which 5-series you drive, its quiet, refined, great motorway car, smart understated business appearence, it couldn't be any less sporty surely? :p

I'm not saying they're rubbish as they're clearly very good cars at what they do, but how can a car be "sporty" if its so refined you get hardly any sense of speed at all? Its fast but most certainly not sporty!!

If i ever had one it'd be for motorway use or in a really built up area where i'd be stuck in a lot of traffic jams and i'd almost definately get the automatic one tbh, for convienience given the refined nature of the car i'd have chosen.

Its all personal preference though and i can see that.

But anyway back on topic...if you like rx7's, why not a fto gpx ? could get a really great condition one for that money with warranty, or just get a cheapy and have lots and lots to spend on possible future repairs.
