What car did you learn in?

My mothers VW Fastback, beautifully restored too, unfortunately she pulled out of a junction a few years later into the side of a Morris Marina and wrote both off :(.
 
I learned in this in 1996:

It was painted and shiny when I learned in it though. Got a bit beat up after I'd been at it for a few years :p

Im starting to get bored of mk6/mk6.5 fiestas now... lol
 
I learnt in my Dads 9000 Aero, was quite a big car to maneuver and a 2.3Turbo so slightly nippy. Was much better to learn in than a small city car in my opinion as it prepared me to drive bigger, faster cars early on rather than working my way up through sizes.

Took a couple lessons in an instructors tiny hatchback (can't remember what it was no more) just to take my test in...
 
I learnt in the instructor's Polo 1.6 diesel. My first motor was a Daihatsu Terios 1.4 which consumed petrol, so it took little longer than I would have liked to get used to it.

Speaking of which, could someone alleviate my ignorance and explain why diesel cars start moving by themselves as you ease off the clutch, but petrol cars don't?
 
1.? Peugeot 206 - Cancelled that instructor after one lesson as he was a knob and the car was ****
1.3 CDTi Corsa D - Not a bad car, interior was ok but the visibility all around was very poor and the engine was pathetic.
1.3 CDTi Corsa C - Fell to bits during every lesson :D
1.2 Corsa C - Did my test in this as my Instructor was away in Sri Lanka on the day of my test.
 
Learnt in a 2000 Nissan Micra (think it was a 1.0 or 1.1)
Horrible little thing, due to me being 6foot4 and the weird driving position i'd get out after an hour barely able to walk due to my leg aching like made from being kept at a funny angle.
Good for learning clutch control though as it would stall so easily.
 
Peugeot 205 petrol (not sure of engine size)
Peugeot 106 diesel (instructor changed part way through learning, horrible thing).
Landrover SIII LWB 2.25 petrol (Car I had access to drive when not with instructor).
 
CAR: 1981 MG Metro (Brothers car) and 1977 Mini Clubman (My own car)..

BIKE: RG125 (My own) and then GS500 (Training centres)
 
started in a Renault Megane diesel, and then when i came round to taking my test 9 months later they had upgraded to a C3 diesel. nais.
