I just passed my test 2 weeks ago and it made me curious what other people learned to drive in and passed their test in.

I started learning in a 59 plate Mini petrol and then changed instructor to a newer 64 plate Mini diesel which I passed my test in.

What about you guys?

Learned to drive (not on the road) at 14 in a Mitsubishi L300 2.5D LWB van.
Learned to drive on the road at 18 in a VW Polo 9N 1.2E, the very same car I still have. :)

Instructor: Escort mk6, 1.6 petrol
Parents: Rover 200 mk1, then Vauxhall Cavalier Mk3 1.6

The escort was the best of those (the Rover was absolute tripe)

E: this was in 1999

Mk7 Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris with my family

Instructor cars included Mk2 Focus, Mk2 Clio and then finally a Mk5 Ford Fiesta

I didn't have any real need for a licence when I started so stretched it out way too long to be fair, once the need hit got the instructor with a Fiesta who wasn't much older than me actually but was brilliant.

Passed in July 09

Instructor had a Corsa, Renault Clio and a Fiesta for a about a month while the Clio was being repaired after an accident.

My Dad took me out in his partners Clio.

My dad, for some reason, let me and my brother drive his mk1 mexico when we were young, then passed my test in a ford fusion.

First was a Suzuki Vitara - with wide wheels!
Great until I failed as I didn't feel the wheels hitting a kerb :(
Passed in a Corsa of some kind - the typical purple/blue colour they were in the early 1990s.

Also, first car owned was a Hillman Imp :D
