what car for a 19 yr female

all vaild points indeed i was looking at a golf 1.6 to be honest they had in the forecourt but she wanted that car so i had no choice in the deal tried to talk her into the golf which was very nice but nope she wanted the little micra so she won lol
only piad the car £100 deposit but she wants it i told her she better waiting till the end of the month for car tax but she wants it now sort of thing
then what is the price for 12 months road tax on smaller cars plz
i driver 2.000 cc car

12months road tax should be around the £100 mark on that.. maybe just below

its £120 on my 1.4 :)

the micras are very nippy decent enough handling cars - unfortuantly thats a s model - which means the equipment is VERY basic

only bad thing i can think of other than the equipment is the space in th back is very poor (duh - that said im over 6ft lol)

dont get her a tom tom.. lol get her to use a map if she needs to find somewhere.. shes got to learn some day... :D

she will learn the roads better also having to read the signs etc.. not just being told to turn left or right lol

ok guys which TomTom is the best i knew this question must have been asked tons of times so any one car to help

The TomTom One, is a great piece of kit for the money. Has never let me down.

The 300 is an equivalent, but bigger, slower and tends to be more expensive.

Not sure of the spec of the 500 model.

The 800 is more for European travel and is a lot more expensive.

Definately the One for me.

yer i agree m8 but its her money and her choice and she got to learn a few lessons in life at the age of 19 i cant keep her under my wing for ever so let her find out mistakes by letting her drive it lol
still will buy her the tomtom then she cant get lost lol

Not if she has TomTom :p. Since i got TomTom, I've never bothered looking at a map, and rarely look at road signs - it is that good. I even drove to the South of France without looking at a map, and it got me there with no hiccups.

Worst purchase i have ever seen.

Hardly.

Nice enough car the micra. The 1.0 is a good engine and im sure plenty for the woman.

My ex bought a 1.3 version and was very pleased with it.

Tax is

£60,50 for 6 month
£110 for 12 months on any cars under 1549cc

Well that was the case my my 1396cc car.

£2450 for a 52 plate Micra?

Ok so its a 1.0, not my choice at all, but thats a damn good deal and engine aside a great car for the cash. You'll have little, if any, trouble with that.

hmm. just tried barclays on a 1999 fiesta zetec 1.25 TPFT, £2.5k....wtf :s and adding my mum or sister made it go up :s

Tom.

2.5k??? wtf?? mine is a 96' 1.25 if that means anything... also i started my insurance at the beginning of the year which made it like 100 quid cheaper... i tried adding me mum (9 years + NCB) and it put mine up aswell so didnt bother... that quote seems way ott... erm try virgin as they were second best to me... think it was 1200 TPFT and 1400 fully comp considering im 17 M 0NCB...

back to subject, wish my parents were like that, buying me a car, get it valeted, fit it with tomtom and then get its MOT done... lucky lucky girl ;)

definately avoid 1.0 l engines i had one in my first car and it was dangerously underpower couldnt shift anywhere quick, even the slighest incline on the motoway brought the car from 70 down to 55mph pedal to the metal.

When i passed, i got a 1.0 corsa (1998 model), and 1 and a half years later, i am happy i made the purchase. Not one fault. Does lots of mpg too. Still have it too.

Recommended as a first car from me.
Oh and it cost me £2200 at the time.
