I do quite like the 182's too but can't help look at more expensive options too such as the MCS/330ci/350z

Insurance on the z4 3.0 and 330ci will be fine. I was insured on a 330d at 22 with 0ncb/1 claim for a reasonable amount.

I have found the Z4 roadster to be quite expensive on insurance compared to other similar cars. The coupe consistently returns significantly cheaper quotes however that's irrelevant as it's out of his budget.

E.g. for me (22, 3 years NCB, 1 accident, 4 points)
Z4 3.0Si Sport Coupe - £1150
Z4 3.0Si Sport Roadster - £1900
Z4 3.0i Sport Roadster - £1650
