What car to buy for use in the snow thread

I'd split the budget in 2, and buy a used R33/34 GTR or an Impeza for speed/fun, and lets say an erm, a used Range rover or a V70 2.5T AWD for comfort.

I've just been out for a blast in the snow in the Baja.

Turns out mud tyres are pretty good in snow - so I'm quite happy with what I've already got. :D
 
I'd have a Range Rover.

I wouldn't have the Sport because I'm not a chav drug dealer. I wouldn't have a pick-up because I'm not an overly agressive chav and I don't have and gold or a ***** dog to keep in the cab.
 
Unimog all the way. Won't even cost you ten grand if you buy second. 5K if you buy a fairly old one.

Unstoppable, and enough room on the back for all your shopping :p

We've got three of them in the family, can't wait to try one out someday!
 
Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeriously tempted to ring Jap Performance Parts and see if they'll rent me a set of alloys with snow tyres on :D

They usually have a selection.

Then off to the local park and some B roads to live out my rally fantasies and write off my car :p
 
Merc R-Class for me.

Or that stunning defender above. Brothers mate has a defender and drove to school yesterday whilst taking the mick out of my brother for not attempting it in his micra. Popped round later retracting those comments saying it was pretty empty at the school so he decided to bomb on home in the defender to have a play on his land. Lucky sod!
 
I had a Defender 110 before which was great, if a bit cold and unrefined inside. So probably one of those.

If it was on a bigger budget then either a Discovery or a Landcruiser, either would be properly winterised, and with proper winter/snow rubber fitted. :)
