First car was a VW Lupo Sport 1.4 - Was a fantastic little run around and managed to squeeze a bit of power out of it pushing it to about 115bhp.

My next car and current car is a Peugeot 106 GTI with a lot of power mods to it ranging from port and polish, to kent cams, and blitz exhaust, air filter etc... the usual.

It's a great car, and i know that a lot of people slate peugeot's and french cars in general but i love it, but it's an R reg sitting on 92,000 miles and i think that any money put into it will result in swallowing that money up.

So i'm now in the market for a new car.

Insurance is a major factor.

I'm 20 with 1 year ncb and i pay £1400 fully comp with all the mods on the 106.

In July i will be 21 with 2 years ncb's so i'll be buying a new car then.

I'm after something with a bit more poke, i mean my GTI does 0-60 in 6.1 and i've had it off the speedo (140mph) (on a track by the way) but i want something around the 190bhp mark as standard with the opportunity to tune it slightly.

I have been looking at either -

BMW 325i coupe but i heard that they can be quite dull and people get bored of them quickly.

Other choice is one of my favorite cars -

Subaru Impreza WRX 2 Litre Turbo as i'd love to have a 4wd car, and a turbo fascinates me, and the fact that my brother has owned 4 and my cousin has owned 3, so any help with tuning them, modding them etc... i have help at stand by.

Any other recommendations?

My car is insurance group 13, but a scooby is 20, so i could go up for the right car but my budget is around the £5k mark which i could buy either of the above cars on that budget.

Cheers,

Andy

Your GTI doesnt do 0-60 anywhere near 6.1 seconds nor does it do more than 140mph.

Anyway..

How about something like a Honda Integra?

Forgot, you've been in it, haven't you?

I've timed the 0-60, and i have a picture of it doing over 140mph, please, if you want to see, i will upload it.

Don't like Integra's by the way, but thanks for the suggestion.

Its 12mph more than stock, surely it depends on mods done?

Nissan 200SX?

It would take an awful lot of modding to perform like that. Since this is a motors forum, most of us would be interested in what you've done to get it running at those speeds.

Your speedo isnt 100% accurate. at 60mph on the speedo, you were probably doing 54/55mph

BS your lupo will do 0-60 in 6.1.

Not a chance.

He never said it would. It's his 106 which he claims is this quick.

I'd be interested to see the video of the 0-60 run because as much as I love the GTi it would take more work than you've done to reach 60 in 6.1 seconds. Have you replaced the gearbox/had it modified at all?

Stock times for the 106 are 7.4 to 60 and 124 max, according to Evo
Why do Evo get over half a second more out of the 0-60 than everyone else? I remember once they managed 4.9 in a stock Escort Cosworth but failed to repeat it.

Kent Cams
Bigger valves/pistons/springs
Port and polish
Sports cat
Raceland manifold
Piggyback ECU
Superchip
Blitz Nurspec exhaust
BMC CDA Air filter
Skimmed head i believe?
60mm Lowered
FSE boost valve

Got tons of receipts somewhere, but either way, i bought the car with all of them mods and its great fun.

There we go :)

Sat Nav indicated 152mph, not too sure on how accurate my sat nav is, but it was bloody quick.
