Oki think I will be looking to buy a new card soon. I only play WoW and the odd other game that are not heavy on graphics. Currently I am using the GT 440. Well not actually not using as I can't get it to work with you windows 8.

I'm on a cheap.budget so please bare that in mind. So what card would you guys recommend?
 
Nvidia works better for WOW and at the cheapest end of the scale, I would look to a 660 and the higher end, a 670.

What is your current system (CPU-MOBO-PSU-Resolution)?
 
Does wow use much gfx mem? If not a 1GB 7850 was only about 120/130 last time I looked .


But yea, if it does need more mem either the 660 or 2gb 7850
 
I have a gigabyte M68MT-S2 motherboard, 4gb ram and amd dualcore cpu of some sort. It was a primo budget system from ocuk. The Gt440 gave me high and some ultra settings on wow. Budget around £80 max

I have been running wow in 1920x1080 on a Samsung syncmaster LD220

Depends on resolution and what kind of graphics setting you want.

My old 5850 gave me +60fps ultra settings 1920x1080 on cataclysm.
My old Ge-force 7900gt played vanilla on ultra at 1280x1024 +60fps.

An Nvidia 660 would be stupid, it costs £160 to £200 quid, not cheap
An AMD 7950/7970 is also a stupid idea as they cost £199+ (all OCUK prices)

You could grab a 7850 (which would stomp my old 5850) for £130, but why even do that if you can pick up a sub £80 card second hand that would do the job just as well.

If you are not too bothered about AA, then a 7750 (£71) will play Cataclysm 1920x1080 on ultra at average 58FPS. Just check out google for some WoW benchmarks "7750 WoW benchmarks" this will show you how a host of cards will perform on different settings.

So it all depends on how you are playing it.
 
Thanks for the tips and advice guys. I found the 440 I used was adequate for my needs. So what card would be equal to this or better for the same price now? I will be doing a CPU upgrade in the next few months anyway.
