Actually, I don't think a single card cuts it. I get a minimum of 50FPS with Crossfire'd 3870's, spec in sig. Monitor is a Samsung 245B.
Thats with everything at full, 4xAA, 4xAF.
Yes but your 3870's perform awfully in crossfire in relative terms to a single 8800GT. A single 8800GT is fine http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/$500_gaming_pc_upgrade/page5.asp
How does it play with 4xAA, 8xAF? I'm curious because that's the settings I use (8800GTX), and video ram usage is well over 600Mb according to rivatuner.Actually, I don't think a single card cuts it. I get a minimum of 50FPS with Crossfire'd 3870's, spec in sig. Monitor is a Samsung 245B.

I know it wouldn't really affect the general fps too much, but you'd expect to see some chugging/pausing when the 512Mb of local vram is used up, and textures need to be swapped in/out of system ram. The vram usage probably varies from level to level too, I only checked it after the TV station bit.Doesn't seem to make a huge amount of difference, maybe lost 10fps all round.
