What case should i get for this lovely new rig??

What makes it so good though please..
Huge amount of space to work with, plus everything is removable, building in this case is absolutely bliss in comparison to every other case I have ever used. Great design.
Excellent Cooling. Will keep any rig cool with much less effort than most cases. And it will do that quietly.
Various different side panels can be bought for it too, a nice big window for showing off your rig, or perhaps one with an extra fan mount in to keep you graphics card icey cool. (personally I have a full size clear side panel. Pure class)

Doesn't come supplied with case fans, add £20 for two 12cm fans. No HD isolation at all. Plastic front too. Should be bundled with fans really just to get you going.
Having freedon to choose your own fans = good
Well made plastic front, will take knocks no problem, doesn't scratch etc. Nice and damage resilient. Looks a damn site better in the flesh than most photos you will find on the net. For example the photo on ocuk is poor.

Apart from that looks like a good large midi tower case. Would like to see pictures of a Eclipse with all components. Is there direct airflow over the hard drives? (and how many fit into the bottom front cage, the one with airflow?) I can't tell from pictures but it looks like only two 3.5" bays have airflow from the front fan.
A few pics of mine. Mine is actually a Globalwin ycc61, but its the same case except mine doesnt say akasa on the front. The side window was imported from america by the previous owner.

All the hdd drives get nice airflow from the front fan, It will take 5 drives all with adequete cooling. Mine stay ice cool even with the akasa amber fan I have at the front at 5v, very little airflow tbh.

Think you've sold me on it.. Which fans will i need to buy for it...

I am a Newbie and it needs spelling out... Quiet and top notch...

I personally think the akasa Ambers are great. There very quiet, and do the job ideally. The acoustifans here on ocuk are meant to be pretty good aswell.
Basicly when looking up on fans, ignore the specs, there almost allways absolute rubbish. Go by peoples opinions.

hmm £80 plus two fans plus side panel with fan mount. Works out similar to the stacker 810. If the Eclipse was considerbly cheaper I would go for that, but not when it's similar in price. The stacker comes with all case fans plus one 4 in 1 module, with a fan.

Akasa + fan side panel + 2 Akasa ambers =£129. £2 more than my Stacker.

Bit expensive really for a midi tower.

You do love that stacker m8.....

This needs some deliberation i think...

keep the debate going... Please.. All info is greatly received.

You're right m8, it's only 120mm bigger than the eclipse but 320 bigger than the 830..........

What do i do??? Hehe.... 584 x 227 x 536 mm does seem very big for what i need..... Althought the 830 is 250 x 536 x 638 mm being very wide...

The eclipse is 460 x 240 x 560mm .

Buy the Soprano its like £50 on here. Since you were going to spend £150 use that other £100 for a nice keyboard, maybe the Saitek II or the Logitech G15. And get a nice mouse like the Razer Copper head or even the Logitech G5.

By the look of your new rig im guessing your a gamer, hence the reason of the above.

The fanside panel is completely unnessary unless you have High end crossfire / SLI, and even then its not really worth having.
With just the standard panel it will cool fine.
It may be midi tower in height, but you seem to be forgetting its about 2 inches wider and a good deal longer. It can take eATX motherboards aswell. It has a much more usable space than the Stacker imo.

Don't get a Soprano either. Get an Eclipse (or a stacker.... :p )
Its in a completely different league

Cheers m8....... Think you're rigth from all the posts i've read today... Good job man invented alcohol otherwise i would've gone mad hours ago.

The spec is changing all the time and the price keeps going up.

I'll bin the side panel but looking maybe to upgrade now to the Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard.

What do you reckon ??

Just want the best m8 and you're obviously in the know...

With respect and regards,

Not really too good on the new conroe setups, still on AMD64 myself. Your best bet would be shooting accross to the motherboard section and seeing what you can find on it.
From what I have seen the top boards for conroe are the Gigabyte DS3, the Intel BadAxe and the Asus PW5

Certainly go for the Eclipse or Stacker 810, although the 810 is very large.

Eclipse has slightly better all round cooling but the Stacker offers more space, although its not like the Eclipse is lacking in any way.

PC7+ is the other option, all three are good choices and being honest you would not be dissapointed with any of them.

Personally the Lian Li gets my vote, Eclipse if your doing mad overclocking, and Stacker if your sticking 10 hard drives into the rig. :)

Cheers m8... Thx for the input.. At the moment i've got two specs that i think i'm happy with.

These are:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
CoolerMaster Stacker 830 - Silver Trim (No PSU)
ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 (PCI-Express) - Retail

and

Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 (PCI-Express) - Retail
Maxtor MaxLine III NCQ 250GB 7V250F0 SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case - No PSU
Akasa AK-183-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan - 3 pin x 2

not a lot in them really. Prob go for either the Antec 900 gamer which i really like or the eclipse.... With fans extra of course.

The real issue is the mobo.... Two completely different card, bu ti think the asus is coming out best.. Whats your opinion?/

Ta.

Whitey

Whoops!! Edit .. i'm going for the seagate drives as they are more reliable. :)

I would take the Asus, overall been a better brand name for me personally than the Abit boards.

Just make sure you dont buy the Stacker 830, anything but that! :D

Three golden rules of buying a case, if its called Stacker 830 avoid, if its called Asus Vento AVOID and if its got a giant cheap monster head on it avoid. :p

Just wondering why you are buying a retail CPU plus a 3rd party HSF. Might as well asve yourself a few quid and get the OEM version.

In answer to your original queston the LL V1000+ gets my vote. I have one, and its quiet, keeps things cool, spaceous inside, and looks cool.

for a mobo, unless you want crossfire or SLI, i'd go for a gigabyte DS3 or DS4
